Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paul Slater. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paul , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
Honestly, the best advice that I have ever given a client was simply to believe in herself and learn to focus on the things that she has control over. unfortunately in life when we start to go through “bad” things in life, we totally forget about all of the good. This is the exact mindset that my client was in. Her therapy wasn’t working for her, she was lonely because she had just relocated to a new state, she had gained 20-30 pounds, and had an overall negative perception of herself.
Once these issues were pinpointed, we started working on positive reminders, encouraging new habits (Including the gym), and just an overall metal diet.
I can proudly say that this woman is now THRIVING in all aspects of her life right now. She is down 41 pounds. She looks great, but most importantly she’s mentally fit!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got serious about my training in 2019. I have been in the gym to some degree or another pretty much my whole life, starting with little league sports. I started off training my wife and my cousin, both of which are curvy women. They started posting their workouts on social media and other women that have the same figure or wanted to attain that figure started reaching out.
With the growth of clients, I quickly learned in order to get the successful woman of today women into the physical shape that they wanted, we first had to get them in the mental shape that they wanted. This is where the mindset coaching came into play.
We start our workouts with motivational speeches, testimonials, and confidence builders in order to insure we have the right tools to take through not only the workout, but throughout life!
My brand was designed to teach women how to embrace a different perspective on life, all while building curves and confidence. I am extremely proud to say that goal has and continues to be accomplished. It’s proven to me daily by. watching my clients “glow up” not only physically, but in their personal lives as well as their careers.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would definitely choose the same profession.
The relationships that have been built, the mental and physical obstacles that we were able to overcome, the mental growth that I have seen from my clients makes it all with it. The fact that some of these ladies have thanked me personally for some of the biggest moments of their lives can’t be replaced.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think that the biggest thing that helped my reputation in this is field simply put, is respect.
I give my clients the utmost respect at all times. Let’s be transparent. male trainers definitely have a negative reputation in this industry, so I make it my business to show my clients that this “ain’t that type of party”. Before we even begin to talk about signing up, we have an in-person consultation to meet each other and so you can begin to get comfortable with the person you will be training with and essentially spending your hard earned money with!
The fact that the vast majority of my business has come from word of mouth also helps my reputation because I am starting out with someone that can vouch for what it is that my programs do.
