Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daphne Alvarado. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Daphne, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I have a degree as a doctor of medicine. Throughout medical school, I have always baked. I started posting my baked goods online and needed a name. “Dr. Doughlittle” was born as a combination of my passion for medicine and baking.

Daphne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I specialize in macarons, cakes, cupcakes, and decorated sugar cookies. I find inspiration in creating delicious treats that are difficult to find, such as flavors like Ube from the Philippines, where my cultural roots lay. I also create uniquely shaped character macarons, and tailor my bakes to any special event.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the pandemic, working in healthcare with unknown consequences of exposure changed my career path toward my hobby of baking. I wanted to provide my family with luxury tailored treats that were difficult to come by. That spear-headed the beginning of “Dr. Doughlittle” as a business.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Doing my best to place flavor and visual appeal as my priorities has earned my trust with clients. Customers are always satisfied, and recommend me to their friends and family. Word of mouth through referral has allowed my business to thrive.
