We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Douglas Dangerfield a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Douglas, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
At times I wish I had started my business as a Real Estate Agent sooner than now. However, when I think of it, I am Grateful for having the drive and determination to have started it late May 2024 than when I had originally thought of it in 2002. I feel that I appreciate everything that I’m Learning now that I would 20 years ago. I value what I know, what I’m taught and continue to learn and grow. I feel that if I had been doing it since 2002 that I would have become complacent and bored. Whereas now everything I learn from people is new and exciting. I do not take anything for granted and I am working hard to be the best agent I know I can become.

Douglas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Real Estate Agent for Keller/Williams in Greater Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. I am certified all over the state of California and find it an honor to be working with the biggest Real Estate company in the world, Keller/Williams!
I listen to peoples needs and wants, try to find the best homes that fits each person. Palm Springs, CA has a huge amount of inventory and I feel like a kid in a candy store because I get to view ay of the homes out here in order to find THE one to suit my clients. It is a tough industry to get into, but with drive and determination (to which I have a lot) anyone can be a success.
I am a people person and I love learning about each and every client that I come into contact with. I want them to know that each client that I have I treat with dignity and respect. I want them to trust me and I WILL help them can THE house they indeed want.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media account is just starting. Really it started in August 2024. I have started to grow recently because I wanted people to see what I am doing and what I have become. The big thing is that you have to update it constantly (YouTube) or it gets boring and stagnant. I feel that some thought it was a phase but and time progresses you can see new videos and how they’ve improved considerably. I try to update it about 2-3 times a week (sometimes 5) and by doing that, and keeping it interesting, the audience grows and I hope to get more clients from this platform.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for clients for me are just the people in my phone by actually cold calling people, I know it is hard but once you do a few it becomes easier.
Another way is hand my business card to whoever I meet. Be kind to everybody because you do not know who may be your next client.
I do office time 2 times a week and that means that whenever someone comes to look at our listings on our window I go out, talk with that, make them laugh, have a conversation with them then give my business card. I said before, you never know who is going to be your next client. Office time is also a good time for me to get walk-ins, talk with them, hopefully getting them to sign on with me.
