Social media can be a really powerful way to connect with and build deeper relationships with your audience – but it can be extremely time consuming. So, we asked some folks we admire to share how they manage their social profiles and whether they’ve hired professionals to help.

Only recently have I hired a remote social media team to help me and my businesses with posts and staying on top of trends. For the last 11 years I have done it all myself and it worked really well, but I have been working on promoting more of the businesses and individual staff members instead of mostly just my content. I think as a business owner that has staff and provides services, it’s important that it’s not all about me. As of right now, I still manage my own social media. Aside from wanting to avoid the costs of hiring a social media manager in the early days of Heidi Hi Photography, I realized that I wanted to be able to establish the brand of my business myself as it grew. Although I am not very active on social media personally, I knew how crucial it is for a small, creative business to have a social media that draws people in and gives a clear picture of what the business is all about. My goal has been to create a social media presence that showcases my photography work, gives potential clients a chance to “meet me,” and reaches people who may not know about my business otherwise. So far, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the results of the content I have been creating for social media–quite a few of the weddings I’ve been booked for have been through my social media or at least influenced by clients seeing my work on social media. And personally, I’ve found that I actually enjoy editing videos of my work and planning out which pictures I want to share on social media. Read more>>

Social media is the name of the game these days, at least in the creative industry. Currently I am running my own social media accounts and actually taking a tiny “break” from the regular schedule considering it is off season for me at the moment. I don’t really see a reason for myself as a photographer to have anyone else running my socials, I want whatever is posted to authentically feel like me. Read more>>
