Carissa, appreciate you joining us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
One important lesson I learned early in my career was the value of effective communication. Before, it was easy to assume that everyone understood my ideas and intentions. However, I realized that miscommunications led to confusion and inefficiencies. By actively seeking feedback, clarifying my messages, and encouraging open dialogue, I not only improved client relationships but I also enhanced my skills. This lesson taught me to be more empathetic and understanding, allowing me to build stronger relationships with my clients. Today, I prioritize communication in every step of my planning process with clients, fostering an environment where everyone feels heard and valued.


Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After years of working in the healthcare industry and undergoing major hip surgery in 2023, I had to unfortunately step away from work, and with that, came plenty of time to sit around and think. During that time, I feel like I was able to discover what my passion in life truly is. Travel. Travel has always been something that truly brings me joy, and it was something I was good at! So, I decided to turn that passion into a profession. As a travel advisor, I have a passion for helping people explore the world and create unforgettable experiences. Since joining the industry, I’ve built a wealth of knowledge about various destinations, travel trends, and the best practices for planning trips.
I specialize in personalized travel experiences, taking the time to understand my clients’ preferences and needs. Whether it’s a relaxing beach getaway, an adventure, or a cultural exploration, I strive to create the perfect trip for them. My goal is to make the travel planning process seamless and enjoyable while ensuring that every detail is taken care of.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see my clients return from their trips with cherished memories and stories to share!


Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I truly feel like social media has been the most effective strategy for growing my business. It has allowed me to reach a vast audience by leveraging multiple platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and LinkedIn.
Social media also provides a much more cost-effective method for marketing compared to traditional advertising!


How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media required a strategic approach, consistent effort, and a lot of time and patience. I had to be consistent with my posts, promoting, as well as utilizing all of my social media platforms. It has not been easy, and I still struggle to find the motivation. I am nowhere close to where I would like to be with my social media presence, but I am also a lot farther than where I was 2 years ago.
My advice to those that are wanting to build their social media presence would be to not give up. You need to identify your target audience and go from there. Tailoring your content to a specific niche can help attract the right followers who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. Establish a regular posting schedule to keep your audience engaged. Consistency is key! Also, it is so important to engage with your followers; respond to comments, messages, and mentions.
Remember, building a loyal following doesn’t happen overnight, it requires patience and dedication.
