We were lucky to catch up with Carris Bennett Christianson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carris, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was returning home to Los Angeles after four years away. This is where I knew I could freely express myself creatively and pursue my dreams. I decided to make a complete fresh start, moving to a part of town I never spent time in, where I didn’t know anyone. It marked the beginning of an exciting and uncertain adventure, a chance to rebuild, rediscover myself, and give back to others in a creative way that felt meaningful.
Almost immediately, I began styling for major companies and clients in the entertainment industry whose work I deeply admired. These opportunities, full of inspiration, allowed me to help others, grow professionally, gaining experience and confidence in the process.
On a more personal note, I put myself back out there, experienced wonderful connections, and faced challenges, including public relationships, and learned of the chaos that often comes with them, something I had to navigate and grow from. While distracting, these were simply new lessons in resilience that helped me grow into a better version of myself. I’m grateful for the friendships and connections I’ve built along the way, as they’ve all played a part in shaping my journey. I gave myself grace to be human, to heal, to pause, and to refocus, which reminded me of what truly matters: the career goals and dreams I came here to accomplish.
Through it all, Los Angeles and my passion for styling and design has been my constant source of inspiration and stability. Even during the hardest moments, this city and my creative dreams have kept me grounded and motivated. Every risk I’ve taken has proven worthwhile, shaping not only my career but also the person I am today, someone who values perseverance, creativity, and staying aligned with their vision.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a personal stylist & designer based in Los Angeles, dedicated to helping people express themselves through fashion in a way that feels approachable, authentic and empowering. I believe the right wardrobe has the power to elevate your daily life, inspiring confidence and helping you step into your fullest potential. After spending time styling both interiors and wardrobes, I’m now entirely focused on personal styling and an exciting new design project I feel deeply passionate about, which feels both creatively fulfilling and meaningful.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The driving mission behind my creative journey is to help people build wardrobes that truly express their personal style while remaining approachable in both design and cost. I believe that fashion should be empowering, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating or out of reach. My goal is to create pieces and curate looks that feel authentic and accessible, giving people the confidence to embrace their individuality and feel amazing in their daily lives. I want my work to inspire people to see fashion as a tool for self-expression and as a way to step into the best version of themselves.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my social media journey years ago, and it has gone through many transformations along the way. In the beginning, my goal was to connect with others, inspire through authenticity and offer something meaningful. Over time, it has become a creative outlet that evolves with me through different seasons of life. The most rewarding part has been the connections I’ve made, both personally and professionally. Social media has become a space where I can express myself, build relationships, and collaborate in ways that feel meaningful.
My motto throughout this journey has been to post like no one’s watching. It feels like a personal diary at times, and that is the beauty of it, staying true to yourself, embracing your imperfections, and showing up authentically, even as a work in progress. It is about giving yourself the grace to be human, knowing that you will make mistakes along the way. With good intentions, those moments can become opportunities to grow and a testament to others, showing that personal development is possible and within reach for everyone. Carefully crafting content to please everyone risks losing the essence of who you are, and that authenticity is what truly resonates with people.
Do not worry about being cringe. What one person finds cringeworthy will be what another person relates to and feels seen by. Show up as your best self when you can, and trust that your content will resonate with the right people when the time is right. Until then, let social media be your creative outlet, a place where you can connect with others and freely express yourself while enjoying the process.
