We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Jackson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Hannah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
I’m excited to share my story because I see a lot of fellow aestheticians who are just starting out getting really discouraged so hopefully my story can provide hope and motivation.
My first job in my industry was less than ideal. I interviewed at a lot of places but rarely do you get lucky with the dream job in aesthetics without any experience.
I finally got hired at a spa making nowhere close to a livable wage. Whatever days I was not working at the spa, I was working a serving job. It wasn’t until I moved to Alabama I got really lucky and a dermatology office was willing to hire me and train me on everything I needed to know. The practice was fairly new so they were willing to bring in someone new. I was thrilled for this opportunity because they actually ended up training me as a Medical Assistant first, and I learned so much about skin and also learned I’m really good at assisting in surgeries. At the time I was just hungry and determined to grow in my industry, and I got really lucky in the end, but it was not always that way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the aesthetics industry because I truly enjoy caring for others and being able to solve problems. I love the bond that I have cultivated with my clients and being trusted to achieve their skin goals in a relaxed environment.
I have pretty much worked in every aspect of the skincare industry- dermatology offices and med spas. I have been beyond blessed to have worked under very incredible and knowledgeable people which are big contributors to where I am today.
My brand, The Skin Angel Aesthetics, was born in August of 2024. I had no plans of starting a business, a loose business plan written on paper and big dreams. I am still in a learn-as-you-go phase with my business, but it’s been nothing short of fulfilling growing this brand. In my studio you can guarantee your experience with my and your skin goals will be heard and met with care and compassion. I believe in bridging the gap between holistic and medical skincare and looking at the skin as a whole.
I specialize in a number of skin concerns such as acne, hydration, aging, acne scarring, inflammation etc.
I come with 11 years of experience and powerful intuition which reflects in my work and my clients experience.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
I’m going to be really blunt, I didn’t. I was not prepared financially which I do not recommend when you’re starting out. I did it all on my own, which also came with challenges. I funded my business by keeping my start up costs fairly low, I got a business credit card and a loan. My goal in 2025 is to start paying off that debt as my business grows.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth referrals are still the most effective way I get new clients in. I do invest in social media marketing which can be helpful, but my most loyal clients are the ones I’ve built through word of mouth referrals.
