We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Quasheem D Herring. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Quasheem D below.
Quasheem D, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
Yes, I am blessed to have one of the best agencies in the game I am a Member of the SWAG TALENT GROUP a SAG credited spearheaded and credited by Katrina Fristoe. I decided to sign with the SWAG family 1st because I was referred to them I had representation at the time but felt like I was standing still I had been with my current rep for almost 2 years and I just didn’t feel like I was growing honestly I kept getting praise from them but no results with auditions submissions etc. So the 2nd reason I signed with SWAG was that in the first conversation Katrina didn’t tell me anything I wanted to hear she told me the harsh truth and told me where I needed to improve and that I needed to make a lot of changes to name a few the way my resume was structured, headshots and my framing and audition techniques. Then she said but I see potential and gave me a plan and told me what she could do and what she would do and the rest was history. I honestly feel she decided to work with me because it was God’s divine timing and it aligned for her to not just visualize my talent but feel what kind of worker I was just from the first conversation for instance how far I was willing to travel for roles how much time and money I have invested in my craft and most importantly my attitude of never quitting and staying positive and practicing patience. So I truly trust in her and she truly trusts in me and that’s what’s needed when you are choosing an agent.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
First and Foremost Too God Be The Glory Too God Be The Grace Let me formally introduce myself I am Quasheem D Herring a working actor that prides himself in method acting and delivering an epic performance no matter what the character. Well, I first got hit with the acting ability at a young age growing up in the church I would be the lead in various Christmas and Easter Plays then did a few plays in high school and took a drama class. I didn’t take it seriously until Aug 2019 when I walked on a set as an extra and was in full costume 3-piece suit in a hat in the almost unbearable heat and all I can think of this is incredible. I fell in love with it that day not even knowing how to continue or even where to start to develop and find opportunities for this great career. I have always felt that God gave me this talent and my goal is to truly be the paint to the canvas of multiple directors and writers to truly enhance their idea and deliver it way past their expectations. Fast forward I have now been in the game 2 years I have been a leader in a few feature films just to name a few Black Money (Directed By Shakira Ruiz & Filmed by Steven Smith) where I play the antagonist Ace which is brought to you by Dame Dash Studios currently streaming on TUBI also Collusion I See Everything (Directed by Cole Media Written by Cole & Kendrick Watson) Based on a true story and book where I play the main Character Kendrick Diamond Watson which is currently filming. Also, I starred in a short film based on true events called Charmaine (Directed & Written by Royce Patton) which is available now on ROKU & RNTV, I am currently Filming multiple upcoming feature film projects that I’m under an NDA where I can’t reveal the names of the title. TV-wise me and my team are in the process of pursuing a recurring or leading role in a current or upcoming Tv series. What I’m proud of the most is how comfortable I have gotten with being uncomfortable when it comes to getting No’s it’s part of the game but when I changed the no to this is the next no that becomes a later yes or a planted yes I begin to truly succeed I may have had multiple breakups from ex Girlfriends and ex fiances along the way and I may have encountered a huge lack of support or belief but that hasn’t stopped me and I am getting bigger and better every day and I before its all said and done be one of the top 10 best actors in this game because of my approach, preparation and work ethic no one is going to bring what I can bring because of my attention to detail and my attitude of not just being talented but being a pleasant actor to work with.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
So one of the biggest overcoming situations that I share is this, I had the ultimate opportunity to be a part of a huge casting call in 2019. That was for I think less than 25 roles and I remember traveling on the last day of the casting call almost 3 hours to an auction I ended up killing it I had the crew laughing I had the casting directors stunned and the director was blown away. Months later I got the call I was cast for the film this was my first big casting a secured co-star role with a pretty substantial pay rate and a handful of shooting dates. I remember going on set doing my very best and being truly excited to be a part of such a great production it was Called Negative Exposure its a good film check it out but as the days of the release were coming close I had recently secured a role as a lead in my first film than the night before the release date after I have been marketing this movie for months everywhere passing out flyers paying for promotions and even scheduling a screening party and renting out a studio to play the movie. I get a call from the director and they tell me we had to make some changes to the final cut and your scenes and the people in your scenes we all left on the cutting room floor most people would have been devastated and crushed but I took it in stride appreciated the call and swore to be so good on my next film that not one scene would be cut and to be honest I owe the success of my Character Ace to God first but getting left on the cutting room floor of Negative Exposure 2nd. I learned that day never stress what is out of your control and money ain’t enough if you don’t get the screen time or the opportunity to showcase your talent and last but not least until the final edit never count it as a win.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
So my mission is to secure generational wealth for my children to my children’s children from a passion and career that I love and enjoy. So that my kids don’t have to choose their job based on a salary or a compensation level because the sacrifices that I have gone through were more than enough to award them with the freedom to follow their hearts. Then they will find their true passion and be confident in living and doing it with not having to worry about the well-being it awards and focus more on the completion it brings. Alan Watts said it best ‘don’t live your life doing what you don’t like doing and teach your children the same thing that’s all retched no vomit. I rather live a short life doing what I love than a long life resenting and hating what I do on a daily. it’s all about What my heart desires”
