Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Like many entrepreneurs, I didn’t start with a roadmap for success. When Instagram first launched in 2010, I was just another user, curious about this new platform that promised to change the way we shared our lives. At the time, I had no idea that this app would eventually become a powerful tool to build my career. But looking back, I can now see how each step, each moment, contributed to where I am today.
In those early days, Instagram was a different world. It was still an emerging platform, and the digital landscape wasn’t nearly as saturated as it is now. Like most, I started out posting casual images; snapshots of my life, moments with friends, and the occasional sports-related content. There wasn’t much strategy behind it, just an attempt to connect with the people around me. But as I spent more time on the app, I began to see how others were growing their audiences by showcasing a unique perspective, a brand, or a skill.
That’s when it clicked for me: If I wanted to truly stand out, I needed to offer something that was distinctly me. But it wasn’t easy. In the beginning, I didn’t have the following or the exposure that many of the bigger influencers had. I was starting from scratch, posting content consistently, experimenting with different styles, and trying to understand what resonated with my audience. It was a lot of trial and error, and there were plenty of moments where I questioned if it was even worth it. Over time, my consistent content and authentic engagement helped me grow my following to over 100,000. As my brand gained traction, I started monetizing through sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, and brand partnerships. The money I earned from Instagram gave me the capital to explore new ventures, and one of the first I invested in was stock trading.
Starting small, I used the income from my social media success to fund my trading portfolio, focusing on long-term growth. With careful research, discipline, and reinvestment, my portfolio grew steadily. Over time, I reached a six-figure portfolio, surpassing $100,000. This success in trading allowed me to further expand my business ventures, including coaching, social media management, and personal styling for athletes and influencers.
Each step, whether growing my Instagram or building my stock portfolio, taught me the value of consistency, reinvestment, and smart decision making. I used my platform not only to build my own wealth but also to educate and inspire others, particularly athletes, on how to manage their finances and invest wisely.
