We recently connected with Kenisha Pitts Wages and have shared our conversation below.
Kenisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy is something great.
I aspire to leave a legacy defined by the meaningful work I’ve done, the positive impact I’ve had on others, and the contributions I’ve made to the creative business sector. At the core of my vision is the hope that my efforts not only inspire those who work alongside me but also empower them to build successful, sustainable businesses. Ultimately, I want the work we do to create opportunities that allow us all to better support our families and achieve lasting success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I recognized marketing as both a creative outlet and a viable career path, which led me to pursue a degree in the field.
Over time, I found myself drawn to hospitality marketing, where I uncovered a deeper passion for food and beverage brand marketing. This passion ultimately inspired me to build a business focused on serving this niche.
While working within the hotel food and beverage industry, I noticed a recurring challenge that many brands struggled to establish compelling digital presences, from effective branding to visually appealing imagery. As digital spaces increasingly drive success across industries, I saw an opportunity to address this gap.
Along the way, I also developed a complementary skill in food and beverage photography. Combining this visual artistry with my marketing expertise felt like a natural progression allowing me to not only make a living but also help food and beverage brands tell their stories more effectively.
My vision is to bring chefs’ ideas and the stories behind their creations to life, capturing the essence of a dish through imagery that connects with audiences before they even take a bite. I also realized that chefs and culinary teams often lacked the visual tools needed to showcase their work. Many food and beverage brands hire marketing firms that don’t specialize in their industry, leaving a gap in understanding and execution. I saw this as an opportunity for The Creative Lab Marketing to step in offering tailored marketing solutions designed specifically for food and beverage brands
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I believe the story of my journey itself is resilience. Moving to the U.S. alone to pursue my career and dreams required not only courage but also unwavering determination. I had to build my career from the ground up, and starting my business was no different. It took vision, and persistence to keep moving forward, even without a safety net or help.
My career didn’t begin as a corporate marketing manager in hospitality. I started at the front desk in guest services, gaining firsthand experience in the industry. Along the way, I took on marketing side jobs within food and beverage, which fueled my passion and prepared me for the opportunity to transition into full-time marketing in hospitality. From that moment, I’ve been fully committed to this path.
In parallel with my professional career, I also poured my time and resources into building my own small business. I saved up investing in equipment, enrolled in photography classes, and took digital marketing courses to refine my skills and align them with my purpose. Every step of this journey has been intentional, driven by a desire to grow, create, and have a meaningful impact through my work.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve always been deeply inspired by the creative arts. Whether it’s writing poetry, exploring photography, or leading innovative digital strategies, creativity is at the core of what drives me. It’s a passion and a purpose that fuels everything I do.
Beyond my personal love for creativity, I’m also motivated by a desire to make my family proud. My goal is to see The Creative Lab Marketing grow into something far greater than just a small business, but to become a thriving, impactful brand that leaves a lasting mark in the industry.
