We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samantha Puckett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Samantha below.
Samantha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Photography is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. The reason it’s been so important to me is because of my childhood which was not so great. I my family didn’t have many photographs to reminisce on. The push for me was having children of my own. I was a stay at home mom after my second child was born and I promised myself I would document my childrens lives as much as possible. After learning and taking courses to better myself I thought this is something I could do and actually help bring in an income for my family. It has been so rewarding. I continue to learn every day. I’m hoping to create enough clients where I can quit my full time job as medical assistant to persue my dreams of being a full time creative.

Samantha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started in this photography industry as most photographers do. It was a hobby for me after my second son was born. I knew absolutely nothing about photography. I did online course, YouTube, as well as help from other photographers. Photography has always been so important to me. As a child my family was so poor. We had very little photos of our family or my childhood with my siblings. It brings me so much joy to create beautiful photos for my clients to cherish forever. I provide family, senior, engagement, couples, children, pets, beach/outdoor and I’m currently building a studio for more options for clients such as newborns, headshots and branding.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My future goal is to be busy enough to go full time. I would love to make my schedule more flexible for my personal life. My kids play sports and I’m their #1 supporter. I learn in this craft all the time. I love being creative and putting smiles on clients faces.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding for myself is knowing that my clients have memories that I get to be apart of to share with generations in their family and for friends for years. Time goes by so fast and this is way they can freeze it and remember this certain time in their life.
