As an automotive exterior designer, I’ve always been passionate about creating cars that turn heads and make people feel something. To me, a car isn’t just a way to get from A to B—it’s a statement, an experience, and sometimes even a dream come true. Growing up, I was fascinated by the blend of art and engineering in car design, and now I get to bring that same magic to life. I love the challenge of balancing bold, beautiful designs with functionality and sustainability, knowing that every project has the potential to shape the future of mobility.

Hi, I’m Yisong (Rocky) Jiang, and I’m an automotive exterior designer who’s all about creating cars that are not just beautiful to look at but also meaningful in how they function and connect with people. My love for cars started when I was a kid growing up in China, and that passion eventually brought me to the ArtCenter College of Design, where I learned how to turn ideas into real-world designs. Since then, I’ve worked with big-name car companies and fresh startups, designing vehicles that push the limits of what’s possible.
What I love most is solving design challenges—making cars that not only look amazing but also work seamlessly in everyday life. I think what sets me apart is my ability to balance creativity and practicality, crafting designs that feel bold and exciting while staying true to their purpose.
I’m especially proud of the projects where I’ve been able to work with talented teams to turn big ideas into reality—vehicles that inspire and make an impact. Whether you’re into cars, design, or just curious about the creative process, I hope my work sparks some inspiration and gives you a glimpse into the future of mobility.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is seeing an idea come to life—something that started as a quick sketch or a spark of inspiration becoming a tangible design that resonates with people. It’s incredibly fulfilling to create something that not only looks beautiful but also serves a purpose and makes an impact, whether it’s a car that turns heads on the street or a design that redefines how we think about mobility.
I also love the process of problem-solving and collaboration. Every project brings its own unique challenges, and working with a team to tackle those challenges while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible is so inspiring. But what truly keeps me going is knowing that my work can evoke emotion and create a connection—it’s that moment when someone sees a design and feels excited, inspired, or even empowered. That’s what makes it all worth it.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For sure. My main goal as a designer is to create cars that inspire people and push the boundaries of what’s possible. I’ve always believed that design isn’t just about making something look cool—it’s about solving problems, telling a story, and connecting with people on a deeper level.
I want my work to stand out not just for its style but for how it makes people feel and the difference it can make. Whether it’s exploring new ideas, using innovative materials, or thinking about how we can make mobility more sustainable, I’m all about designing vehicles that leave a lasting impression and make the world a little better along the way.
