We were lucky to catch up with Farah ‘firefly’ Mitha recently and have shared our conversation below.
Farah ‘Firefly’, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
One of the most unexpected challenges I’ve faced in my creative journey was realizing how long it could take to truly understand who I am as an artist and develop a strong sense of identity and confidence. When I started, I genuinely thought this would happen overnight. I believed that talent alone could be enough to carry me, and I didn’t anticipate the amount of internal work, self-reflection, and growth that needed to happen first.
In the beginning, I was incredibly impatient. I set these sky-high, unrealistic expectations for myself, thinking I needed to have everything figured out immediately. And because of that, I was constantly disappointed when I didn’t meet those expectations. I didn’t understand that the process of becoming—of refining my voice, my vision, and my artistry—was just as important as the final product.
I also didn’t realize how critical mindset is in the equation. I thought talent was everything. But as time went on, I began to see that clarity and authenticity—not just skill—are what resonate most deeply with people. That realization didn’t come easy or fast. It took years of trial, error, frustration, and digging deep to understand myself and what I truly wanted to say as an artist.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that when you’re clear and authentic, that’s the winning formula. Whatever it takes to get to that place is the right path. For some people, it happens quickly, especially if they have the right guidance. For others—like me—it takes longer. But that’s okay because the journey is just as valuable as the destination.
Looking back, I wish I had allowed myself to enjoy the process more. I was so focused on meeting these unattainable expectations that I often missed the beauty of the growth happening in real time. I’ve since learned that taking action, even imperfectly, is what helps you along the way. And every step—no matter how small or seemingly insignificant—is moving you closer to who you’re meant to be.
So if I could share one piece of advice with anyone on a similar path, it would be this: give yourself grace, trust the process, and know that clarity comes from action, reflection, and patience. The journey isn’t always easy, but it’s worth every moment.
Farah ‘Firefly’, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Farah Mitha, but most people know me as FIREFLY. I’m a world pop artist, speaker, actor, and the founder of **Firefly World**, a global empowerment brand on a mission to help people—especially young people—reconnect with their inner brilliance and shine as the brightest version of themselves.
My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s shaped who I am today. Growing up, I often felt alone, and music became my safe space—a lifeline that gave me hope. I promised myself that one day I’d create spaces for others to heal and feel seen. For a while, I thought medicine was my path, but during a pivotal moment in a medical school interview, I realized I was meant for something different. I wanted to heal through music, creativity, and empowerment.
The path hasn’t been smooth—I’ve battled self-doubt, anxiety, and the challenges of an industry that often preys on insecurity. But through mindset shifts and holistic practices, I’ve reclaimed my power and transformed those struggles into fuel for my mission. I chose the name Firefly because it symbolizes light, hope, and connection—a universal essence that transcends boundaries. As an artist, I strive to create a global sound and movement that celebrates all cultures, genres, and people. Like fireflies illuminating the night, my mission is to ignite a sense of unity and inspiration across the world, bringing diverse stories and energies together through music and art. Fireflies remind us that even the smallest sparks can light up the darkest spaces, and that’s the impact I hope to have as an international artist.
Today, through **Firefly World**, I combine the power of music, storytelling, and practical tools to help others overcome challenges like anxiety, burnout, and disconnection. We’ve created experiences and resources that inspire resilience and transformation.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I can only speak from my own journey, but being a creative in a world that often prioritizes stability and predictability has taught me a lot about how misunderstood this path can be. Most of my family and friends struggled to understand why I would deviate from a stable career in medicine—a field where I could tangibly help and heal people—to pursue something as uncertain and tumultuous as a creative career.
Their concerns weren’t unfounded. The creative world is often portrayed as a place fraught with burnout, controversy, addiction, and gossip. But I saw something different. Growing up, I was inspired by the likes of Michael Jackson’s *Heal the World,* John Lennon’s *Imagine,* Des’ree’s *You Gotta Be,* and Mariah Carey’s *Hero*. These songs didn’t just entertain—they healed and uplifted millions of people at once. I realized that through music, I could touch countless lives on a deeply emotional and spiritual level.
What also kept me going was purpose. Creativity, for me, is not just about expression—it’s about transformation. It’s the one thing I never run out of energy or passion for because it fuels me in ways I can’t even put into words. And while I didn’t fully anticipate it at the time, this path has challenged me to grow in every area of my life: physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Deep down, I knew that this growth was part of my human journey.
The insight I’d share with non-creatives is this: everyone is creative. Creativity isn’t limited to artists, musicians, or writers—it’s about how connected you are to *Creative Source Energy,* and that connection takes practice. However, I also believe that certain personalities are more equipped to handle the instability required to gain the freedom creativity demands, while others thrive in the stability and routine of more structured paths. Both are equally valuable, and there’s a role and place for everyone.
Ultimately, success isn’t about how your path compares to someone else’s or meeting others’ expectations. To me, success is about confidently and unapologetically following the path that feels divinely meant for you. It’s about aligning your spirit, your mission, and your actions with your unique purpose. That alignment is where true fulfillment lies—and whether that’s through art, medicine, teaching, or engineering, it’s all equally beautiful and essential.

For me, the driving force behind it all was Firefly World and the impact it could have on the world. It’s something I wish I’d had when I was younger. As someone who loved pop music and pop culture, I wanted to create a way to bridge that vibrant, universal world with the deeply transformative world of personal growth.
I encourage everyone to dig deep and find their creative energy. It doesn’t have to be for a career, but as a way to rejuvenate and connect to your spirit.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, there are several books that have profoundly impacted my approach to management and entrepreneurship, reshaping the way I think and operate both in business and in my personal life.
One of the most transformative books has been *Buddha and the Badass* by Vishen Lakhiani. It taught me the importance of blending spirituality with entrepreneurial drive. The idea of aligning with your purpose, tapping into your inner wisdom, and trusting that you can achieve massive success without compromising who you are has been incredibly powerful for me. It’s helped me understand how to build Firefly World while staying grounded in my values and connected to something bigger than myself.
Another book that deeply resonated with me is *The Surrender Experiment* by Michael Singer. Michael’s journey of surrendering to the flow of life, without attachment to outcomes, has been a revelation. It taught me how to release control, trust the process, and allow things to unfold in their own time. This mindset shift has been essential in my entrepreneurial journey, particularly when dealing with the inevitable uncertainties and challenges that come with pursuing creative endeavors.
*Ask and It Is Given* by Abraham Hicks has been instrumental in teaching me how to work with the law of attraction and manifestation. The book emphasizes the power of thoughts, focus, and alignment with your desires. I’ve learned that by shifting my mindset and focusing on the positive, I can attract the opportunities and people that align with my vision for Firefly World. This concept has not only influenced my approach to business but also how I navigate personal challenges.
Lastly, *Mind Magic* by James Doty gave me a deeper understanding of the neuroscience behind our thoughts and emotions. The way our brain shapes our reality and how we can consciously rewire it to create success has been an eye-opener. This book has helped me embrace mental wellness practices and mindset techniques that support not only my business growth but also my well-being, which I consider crucial as an entrepreneur.
These resources have collectively shaped my belief that entrepreneurship is not just about strategy and hard work—it’s about aligning with your authentic self, staying connected to your inner wisdom, and trusting that the universe has a plan that will lead you to where you’re meant to be. They’ve empowered me to build Firefly World with purpose, resilience, and a mindset that invites abundance.
