We recently connected with Leia Graves and have shared our conversation below.
Leia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When it comes to the our name, The Ruby Bakehouse, we have to look back into the history of our owner and her life. Leia Graves spent a lot of time baking and cooking with her grandmother who goes by “Ruby”. Leia’s relationship with her grandmother grew more and more. They still discuss baking and cooking as well as tactics for the business. Leia’s passion for baking was far too deep for it to only be a hobby. Since starting the business Leia’s baking and relationship with her grandmother had only gotten better. We love grandma Ruby, and she loves us. We continue to spread joy and love with our home baked desserts that taste like comfort. We will continue to grow and share the love with others.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At The Ruby Bakehouse we focus on the quality of our desserts. We are a small home based business founded in 2024. We specialize in cupcakes and cakes but also provide brownies, various cookies, as well as a few pastries. We use quality ingredients to create a comforting experience for all of our customers. Customer care is one of our most valued traits. Our founder Leia Graves made this bakery with intentions to spread love and joy as well as the feeling of home. Leia is a devout Christian as well as a preacher that wants to spread love to others in any way possible. Spending time with family is the reason for our work. Wether you’re getting together for a party, reunion, study session, event, or even a random Tuesday, we want to bring the joy that makes every bite feel special.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When it comes to social media, consistency is key. We spent a lot of time posting videos that didn’t seem to get much engagement, which is fine. The goal is to make more content and the audience will come. Spending too much time looking at the numbers will only make you doubt. Social media is tricky but it is the new age advertising! Spend more time making content, you’d be surprised how fast you’ll blow up.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
When looking to get new clients I usually go to events. Since we are a a home bakery we tend to do more flea markets and farmers markets. Any event you could go to, you should. Spreading the word with family and friends. Even giving samples to strangers. As a business owner you’ve gotta step up and do the difficult jobs.
