Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paige Billiot. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Paige, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue this path when I was about 8 years old. At that time, I was far more fascinated with the behind-the-scenes magic and bloopers of movies than the actual movies themselves. Watching how stories were created and characters came to life felt like a window into a completely different world—one where you could be anyone or anything.
It just clicked: I should be an actress, an artist. The thought wasn’t about the fame or the spotlight—it was about escaping myself. Growing up with a birthmark, I often felt out of place, like I didn’t fit into the world around me. Becoming an actress seemed like the ultimate way to rewrite the narrative. I could step into someone else’s shoes, someone who wasn’t me, and leave my insecurities behind.
It’s funny now because acting gave me the space to grow into myself in ways I never expected. What started as a way to escape has become this incredible journey of embracing who I am and using my creative path to create the representation I never had.
Paige, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Paige Lauren Billiot—a film producer, actress, and advocate for birthmark and physical difference representation. Born with a Port Wine Stain birthmark covering half my face, neck, and head, I grew up feeling like I didn’t fit in and rarely saw anyone who looked like me in media, beauty, or fashion. That lack of representation deeply shaped me and inspired my mission to become the kind of visibility I needed as a child.
I moved to LA in 2014 to pursue both acting and producing, but after constant rejection and hearing things like, “We don’t know where to put you—you’re distracting in the back and too much in the front,” I knew I had to create my own opportunities. That’s when I started my Instagram, initially as a creative outlet. In mid-2015, I posted my first photo with my birthmark as the main focus—it was terrifying and liberating all at once. That moment sparked the idea to highlight my birthmark in bold, creative ways using makeup, props, graphic design, and VFX. That platform has became a place to advocate for representation and connect with a growing community.
What sets me apart is the intersection of creativity, representation, and advocacy in everything I do. My mission is to help others see that their differences aren’t flaws—they’re superpowers. I’m most proud of the community I’ve built and the growing conversations about visibility and inclusion.
Whether through film, events, or online content, my work is about shifting perspectives and creating space for people to feel confident, included, and seen.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that success comes from waiting for someone to say “yes.” I realized the real power is in creating your own opportunities. The system wasn’t built with people like me in mind, so instead of waiting for a door to open, I decided to build my own. That shift in mindset completely changed how I approach my career and my life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media starts with knowing your why. Focus on creating content that feels authentic to you and resonates with you or a version of you. Lean into your unique perspective—it’s what sets you apart.
Consistency is key: post regularly, engage with your audience, and show up in a way that feels genuine. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new formats; sometimes the unexpected content makes the biggest impact. I like to visualize it as a lab – everything is an experiment.
Finally, remember it’s not just about numbers—it’s about building a community. A smaller, engaged audience is far more impactful than a large, disconnected one. Authenticity and connection always win in the long run.
