We were lucky to catch up with Johanna Navarro recently and have shared our conversation below.
Johanna , appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a client that you appreciate them?
Amid a challenging real estate market, I met a client in a dire situation. She was trying to sell her home to escape an abusive relationship and return to her home country. English wasn’t her first language, which added another layer of difficulty to her already stressful situation.
Understanding her urgency, I helped her stage her home to make it more appealing to buyers. We got it listed and pretty quickly, we had a buyer. Since she didn’t have a car, I made sure to pick her up and drive her to the closing.
At the end of the process, I decided to rebate my entire commission to her. This gesture ensured she had enough money for her flight back home, giving her the fresh start she desperately needed. It was a small act of kindness, but it made a world of difference in her life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my professional journey as a stay-at-home mom, focusing on raising my children and being there for all their milestones. When my youngest started middle school, I decided to return to the corporate world and found a place in the financial industry. I worked hard to achieve the necessary financial licenses and built a solid career.
However, as my son entered high school and became active in many different sports, I found myself missing out on many of his events. The corporate job, while rewarding, kept me away from these precious moments. It was during a casual outing with friends one of them pointed out my knack for real estate—I was always admiring houses and stopping by open houses. They suggested I become a realtor.
Initially, I was hesitant. The thought of taking another licensing exam was intimidating, even though I had successfully tackled financial industry exams. I also worried about the inconsistency of income. However, after some reflection and encouragement from my friends, I decided to take the leap of faith.
I studied diligently, passed the real estate licensing exam, and began my new career. It has been the most fulfilling job I’ve ever had. I get to help people find their dream homes while having the flexibility to be present for my family. My son graduated high school and joined the military and I haven’t looked back since and am grateful every day, for making that bold decision.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
One of the key elements that has helped me build a strong reputation in this market is consistency. I make it a priority to always answer my phone, follow up with my clients, and strive to make the buying and selling process as pleasant as possible.
By consistently being available and responsive, I show my clients that I am dependable and dedicated to their needs. This level of commitment has earned me the trust and respect of my clients, making them feel valued and well-supported throughout the entire process. My favorite part is when my clients become friends after the transaction.
It’s not just about closing deals, but about building lasting relationships based on trust and reliability. This approach has not only helped me succeed but also made the journey incredibly rewarding.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
One of the greatest compliments I receive as a realtor is a referral. The best source of new clients for me is the recommendations from those I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Mostly all of my new relationships come from individuals I have helped in the past or met through various connections along the way.
These referrals drive me to continue providing exceptional service, knowing that my client’s trust is earned and valued. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see my efforts reflected in the strong community of clients and friends that I’ve built
