Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Cannon
Hi Kayla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my working career in the food service industry until I found my calling in finance at 22 years old. My first job in finance was working at a local credit union where I worked my way up the ladder. After being a branch manager for a few years, I started to feel stagnant and wanted something new. Something that would present more challenges and push my limits. Somewhere I could continuously grow and learn but still wanted to be in financing. Thats when I switched to mortgages.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. I didn’t have any experience working in a more professional environment, but I had many great leaders who saw the potential in me and took a chance. They helped mold and shape me into the person I am today and even though some days were hard, I will forever be grateful to them.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a Mortgage Loan Officer and I help all kinds of people make their dreams of homeownership a reality! The company I work for has created a culture of Loving and Valuing people and it’s through them that I’m able to be successful!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks is scary sometimes. When I switched from my branch manager role to a mortgage loan officer, I went from a salary paid position to 100% commission with no external sales experience whatsoever. In looking back at everything I had accomplished I knew that I was the type of person who got sh*t done and whatever I put my mind to, I would make it work one way or another. I’m glad I took that risk. In my first year in sales, I was named “Rookie of the Year”!
