Today we’d like to introduce you to Shonta Burton

Shonta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

I am a recent graduate of Full Sail University, where I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Digital Cinematography. My passion for storytelling through visual media has led me to explore new opportunities in the film industry, Right now, I’m working on an exciting project . combining my skills in cinematography with innovative tools to develop engaging content. I also have a strong commitment to community involvement, which led me to organize events at Legacy Garden, formerly known as the Tupac Amaru Shakur Arts Center. My focus is on creating impactful stories that resonate with audiences while pushing the boundaries of creativity and technology.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

I’ve faced several challenges on my journey in the film industry. As a recent graduate, one of the biggest struggles has been finding my footing in a highly competitive field, where it’s tough to break through and gain recognition for my work. Balancing multiple projects has also been a significant challenge for me, as I’m currently working on a few full features Making the transition from a student to a professional has required me to quickly adapt to the standards and demands of the industry. Despite these obstacles, I’m determined to keep pushing my creative boundaries and make a meaningful impact through visual storytelling.

As a professional in the film industry, I specialize in digital cinematography, using my skills to bring stories to life through visual storytelling. I focus on creating, developing, and producing engaging content, blending traditional filmmaking techniques with cutting-edge technology like AI to enhance the creative process. My role often involves writing scripts, developing pitches, creating shot lists, and overseeing the production process from pre-production to post-production. I’m also deeply involved in community engagement, using my platform to organize and host events that connect people through the arts. My goal is to craft narratives that resonate with audiences while continuously evolving my approach to filmmaking.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?

I believe that adaptability is the most important quality to my success. The film industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies, trends, and creative approaches emerging all the time. Being able to adapt and embrace these changes has allowed me to grow as a filmmaker and storyteller. Whether it’s learning new techniques, incorporating or finding innovative ways to engage with the community, staying flexible and open-minded has been key to navigating challenges and making the most of every opportunity.
