Today we’d like to introduce you to David Hanono.
Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Journey to Becoming a Personal Trainer and Coach
Fitness and athletics have always been integral parts of my life, inspired by my father and uncles. My father played basketball professionally in Europe, and my uncles were both into martial arts and bodybuilding. Following in their footsteps, I started my athletic career with soccer and then gravitated towards basketball. I played at a high level growing up, but made the personal decision not to continue once I reached college—a decision I still regret.
College was a challenging time for me. Academics and I didn’t get along well, and I still had a lot of growing up to do. While my peers were on clear paths to becoming lawyers, doctors, and CPAs, I was enjoying life and focusing on working out. Maintaining my physical appearance was always important to me, and I had a clear vision of how I wanted my physique to look.
As I spent more time in the gym, people began asking me for advice on their workouts. One day, it hit me: this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people gain the confidence to improve themselves, guide them, and help them stay accountable. So, I became a personal trainer and coach.
Even now, I have a coach myself because I believe everyone with a specific goal can benefit from someone to help hold them accountable. My journey has been about finding my passion and turning it into a career where I can inspire and assist others in their fitness journeys.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. My fitness journey began with me unhappy about how I looked; I was always self-conscious about taking my shirt off at the pool and was teased about my body multiple times. I faced trials and tribulations along the way, making mistakes and getting into trouble until I learned my lesson. Wrong decisions took me down the wrong path, but overcoming adversity helped build the mental resilience I was lacking.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

My expertise lies in strength training, body fat reduction, and improving overall physical fitness. This empathy allows me to connect with them on a personal level and provide the support they need to overcome their obstacles.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Throughout my journey, many individuals have played crucial roles in my success and the growth of my business. I owe a great deal of gratitude to the following people:
**My Parents and Family:** Their unwavering support has been my backbone, especially during my lowest moments when I felt lost and had seemingly lost everyone else. Their encouragement and belief in me kept me going when times were tough.
**Friends and Even Enemies:** Life lessons often come from unexpected places. Some of my friends, as well as those who challenged me, taught me invaluable lessons that no school could have. They helped shape my resilience and perspective on life.
**Coaches and Trainers:** The mentors and coaches I’ve had the privilege to learn from have been instrumental in my development. They taught me proper form and technique, and their guidance was essential in honing my skills and knowledge as a personal trainer. Their influence has been a cornerstone in my professional growth.
These individuals have all contributed to my journey in significant ways, and their support, lessons, and guidance have been indispensable to my success.
