We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kat Mendez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kat below.
Kat, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My mom was a single parent, and while some of her approaches may have seemed tough at the time, they played a huge role in shaping who I am today, both personally and professionally. She was intentional about teaching me independence, which meant I had to take on responsibilities early that many others may not have. For example, she required me to pay for my car and car insurance, which may sound strict, but it instilled a sense of financial responsibility and work ethic in me that became invaluable.
This lesson in independence pushed me to get my first job at a young age, walking dogs in the neighborhood. From there, I landed a position at a popular jewelry store called Kendra Scott when I was just 14 or 15 years old—an experience that was rare for someone my age. They saw something in me, my energy and vibe, and took me under their wing. I learned so much from that experience, from customer service to business practices. Those lessons have been fundamental in how I’ve approached building my body sculpting business.
Kendra Scott herself is an incredible entrepreneur who built a thriving jewelry business, and her success story has been an inspiration to me. Her ability to grow a brand and lead with passion taught me the importance of vision and perseverance. My mom’s tough love and the opportunities she encouraged me to seek have shaped my mindset, from the importance of hard work to the value of seizing opportunities when they come your way. It was these experiences that laid the foundation for my journey, and I carry those lessons with me every day in both my career and personal life.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kat, the founder of Peach Shack Body Sculpting. My journey into this industry was sparked by a personal experience that opened my eyes to how things should not be done. I had a less-than-ideal experience with a body sculpting service, where I felt like I wasn’t treated with the level of care and attention I deserved. That experience pushed me to pursue a better, safer, and more client-focused approach to body sculpting. I wanted to create a space where people could experience the benefits of body enhancement without the high costs or the invasive nature of surgical procedures that often come with them.
Living in a city like LA, I see firsthand how body enhancements have become a common pursuit. But while surgical options are often promoted, many people are unaware of the risks and the exorbitant costs involved. It’s disheartening that so many feel their only choice is invasive surgery that doesn’t always guarantee the results they’re looking for. I’ve always been a natural girl, and my mission with Peach Shack is to offer something different — non-invasive, affordable body sculpting services that deliver real results without the need for surgery or long recovery periods.
What sets Peach Shack apart is the combination of luxury, personalization, and accessibility. I offer in-home treatments that allow my clients to enjoy their body sculpting experience in the comfort of their own space, without the overwhelming price tag or the fear of dangerous procedures. My goal is to make body sculpting something everyone can confidently consider, without compromising their health or their budget.
What I’m most proud of is how Peach Shack has helped my clients not only transform physically but also boost their self-esteem. The positive feedback I receive from my clients about feeling more confident, empowered, and comfortable in their own skin makes all the hard work worthwhile. I want potential clients to know that when they choose Peach Shack, they’re getting a treatment rooted in care, safety, and results. It’s about helping them achieve the body they desire, in a way that feels natural, empowering, and ultimately, sustainable.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media was a journey that required patience, consistency, and a deep understanding of my niche. For me, it was a little tricky at first because I post content related to women’s bodies – something that can often be shamed or misunderstood on social media. I had to navigate the challenges of posting body-related content in a positive, empowering light, while finding ways to avoid negative or restrictive responses. This meant not only showcasing the results of my body sculpting services but doing so in a way that felt authentic, respectful, and empowering for women.
One of the most crucial lessons I learned is the power of consistency. Social media success doesn’t happen overnight; it’s about showing up regularly, engaging with your audience, and delivering value through your content. For me, this meant consistently sharing real transformations, educational content, and testimonials that spoke to the safety and effectiveness of my services. It wasn’t just about posting often, but posting with purpose – keeping my message aligned with my brand’s values of empowerment and self-love.
Another key element to success is creating content that speaks directly to your target audience’s struggles and desires. It’s essential to understand what your followers are going through and address those pain points in a way that resonates with them, without being too direct or “salesy.” For me, that meant sharing tips on how to enhance body confidence, dealing with common issues like cellulite, or showcasing how body sculpting can fit into a busy lifestyle. By addressing these challenges in a thoughtful and compassionate way, I was able to build a loyal community that trusts me and feels heard.
Creating a cohesive visual identity was also key. I developed a color scheme and style that aligned with my brand’s natural and empowering approach, ensuring my feed was not only aesthetically pleasing but also instantly recognizable. This helped me attract followers who were genuinely interested in what I had to offer.
Hashtags were another tool I used strategically. I always make sure to use a mix of big, medium, and smaller hashtags to maximize my reach, which helped bring in followers who were truly aligned with my values. But beyond the hashtags, it’s the content itself that builds connection. Sharing real stories, challenges, and successes helped me cultivate a community where women felt safe and empowered to embrace their bodies, knowing that Peach Shack was a place where they could enhance themselves naturally and safely.
Cross-promotion was a game-changer as well. I don’t limit my content to one platform – I make sure to share on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and others to reach different audiences and drive traffic from multiple sources. Each platform has its own audience, and by showing up across them, I was able to extend my reach and build a loyal community.
My advice for anyone starting to build a social media presence is to stay patient and strategic. It’s easy to get discouraged when growth is slow, but keep at it. Be consistent, stay true to your niche, and create content that speaks directly to your audience’s desires and needs. And most importantly, remember that social media is about connection. If you can build relationships with your audience, the growth and engagement will naturally follow.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I believe that maintaining strong relationships with my clients is a key component of building brand loyalty. For me, it’s not just about providing a service, but about creating a lasting connection with each client. I make a conscious effort to reach out during holidays and special occasions to express my appreciation. These personal messages aren’t just about checking off a task – I take the time to tailor each message, whether it’s a holiday greeting or simply a check-in after a session. By acknowledging their personal milestones and making them feel valued, I foster a deeper bond that goes beyond the business.
But it’s not just about holiday greetings; brand loyalty is cultivated through consistent communication and ongoing support. After each session, I like to follow up with my clients to see how they’re feeling and offer tips on maintaining their results. I make sure they know I’m always available for advice or to help with any concerns. This personalized approach makes clients feel appreciated, seen, and more likely to return.
I also create exclusive offers and sneak peeks of new services for loyal clients, which makes them feel like part of a special community. This sense of belonging strengthens their connection to both me and my brand, encouraging them to not only return but also recommend my services to others. What I’ve found is that by showing I genuinely care about my clients’ success and well-being, they are more likely to stay loyal, trust my expertise, and continue their body sculpting journey with me.
Ultimately, brand loyalty is built through the genuine connections I form, the trust I earn, and the consistency in delivering not just great results but an exceptional experience. I genuinely care about my clients and consider many of them friends. I love our conversations and the moments we get to catch up during each visit. When clients feel personally valued and know I’m dedicated to their goals, they not only keep coming back but often become advocates for my services, helping to spread the word and grow my business in a way that feels organic and authentic.
