We were lucky to catch up with Smokey Hendrixx recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Smokey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I first knew I wanted to pursue a career in music when I was listening to Tay Keith and his musical run with BlockBoy JB and then I knew how easy it was to be creative. I already had a musical background and started playing the saxophone from 5th-12th grade. I also had a small rap career in high school with a group named “New Generation”. I was almost forced into taking time to work on music because of COVID and it canceled my plans on becoming a sports agent.

Smokey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am Smokey Hendrixx, producer, A&R, and cofounder of Amerikas Most Wanted Productions in Nashville,Tn. I got into music production back in 2019 going into 2020. This decision was made when COVID occurred and my test was cancelled for my NFL sports agency test. The whole world shut down and this gave me the opportunity to take this hobby I wanted to start and just practice to be great at it. Being consistent and always hungry for more made music productions for me a job. I came into the game to solve the problems of artist who get there beats from YouTube and more than likely someone has already performed on. I want to create there sound and give them a space to create their own sound. My work ethic and consistency is what sets me apart from a lot of producers as well as my sound I created for Nashville. I am proud of the fact that Ive created my own sound, produced and pushed my own albums, and being able create with so many talented artist is a beautiful thing. When you come work with Smokey Hendrixx and AMW you will get love from the music we make and you will never be disappointed. Our goal is to be in every speaker or earbud constantly with new music so people know our names.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

One thing society can do for the artist is to really show up for these artist. These artist create music they want to hear but they make music for there fans and potential new fans. Instead of downloading the albums on platforms buy the album. Buying albums goes along way when it comes to music and its shows through numbers for potential trials plaques. Support artist at all performances big or small. You will never know who comes to the shows . It could be writers, producers, label CEOs , A&Rs, or even distribution/publishing companies that could see the support this artist has from their fans that could potentially land them a deal or help to further there career just by showing u have a following.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

The only goals I have are to be the best producer I can continue to become, to potentially work with artist/new artist I listen to, and to continue to create my sound and get it to the masses. My main mission is to get my name everywhere, every room that I’ve stepped in and haven’t stepped in, and when they hear my tag they know the quality of work is there.
