We recently connected with Clayton Colvin And Lamb Little and have shared our conversation below.
Clayton Colvin and Lamb Little, appreciate you joining us today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
We manage our social media ourselves as a team. Together, we dedicate about 8 hours a week to filming content, posting, engaging with followers, and researching trends. It’s a hands-on approach that allows us to maintain an authentic connection with our audience and share our passion for luxury outdoor experiences in a genuine way.
The decision to handle it ourselves stems from my background in entertainment publicity and promotion. I studied this field at the University of North Alabama and built over 20 years of marketing experience as a musician, where I saw first-hand how strategic marketing can drive success. Now, I’m applying that knowledge to social media, staying current on trends and algorithms to maximize our impact.
The results so far have been promising. Since launching our social media pages in late September 2024, we’ve grown to 1,600 followers on Instagram, gained some traction on TikTok, and built a small but growing audience on Facebook. More importantly, we’ve seen brand awareness improve significantly, with inquiries coming directly from our social media efforts. Considering we officially launched our business on November 4, 2024, the growth has been encouraging.
For business owners managing their own social media, the biggest lesson we’ve learned is the importance of consistency. Regularly posting high-quality content, engaging with followers, and staying active on your chosen platforms builds trust and keeps your brand top of mind. We’ve also found success in staying true to our voice and ensuring that everything we post aligns with our values and vision. By staying consistent and authentic, we’ve been able to connect with our audience and grow organically.
Clayton Colvin and Lamb Little, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We’re Clayton Colvin and Lamb Little, the co-founders of Good to Go Luxury Outdoors, a business that brings together the beauty of nature and the comforts of modern luxury. Our story began with an anniversary camping trip that inspired us to reimagine how people experience the outdoors.
Clayton: For one of our anniversaries, I planned a traditional camping trip, thinking it would be a great way to connect with nature. Lamb has always loved being outdoors, but the rougher aspects of camping—like sleeping on the ground and the lack of modern comforts—weren’t her favorite part of the experience.
Lamb: It’s true! I’ve always loved the outdoors, but traditional camping wasn’t my thing. After that trip, we realized there had to be a way to enjoy nature with all the comforts we love. That’s how Good to Go Luxury Outdoors was born—to make the outdoors more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Today, we specialize in mobile glamping setups and luxury picnics, creating unforgettable experiences for events like weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and backyard celebrations. Our glamping setups transform any location into a cozy, stylish retreat with plush bedding, ambient lighting, and thoughtful touches. Meanwhile, our luxury picnics feature curated tablescapes, comfortable seating, and personalized details to create an elegant, picture-perfect event that feels both intimate and memorable.
What sets us apart is the way we combine functionality and creativity to deliver seamless, beautiful experiences. Clayton ensures every setup is efficient, reliable, and stress-free for our clients, while I (Lamb) focus on designing spaces that are as visually stunning as they are inviting. Together, we make sure every event reflects our clients’ unique personalities and needs.
One of the things we’re most proud of is the way our work helps people connect—with each other and with nature. Whether it’s a family spending the night under the stars in one of our glamping tents or a couple celebrating their engagement with a luxury picnic, we love being part of those special, unforgettable moments.
At Good to Go Luxury Outdoors, our mission is simple: to bring the comforts of luxury to the outdoors while making nature more approachable and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind glamping experience or a beautifully curated picnic, we’re here to make it happen.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We met during the early days of COVID, thanks to a mutual friend who introduced us. At the time, we lived in the same neighborhood but hadn’t crossed paths yet. That introduction turned into a friendship that grew naturally over time, even though we initially didn’t have much in common.
As neighbors during such a unique period, we had the chance to truly get to know each other in meaningful ways. Our bond was built on shared conversations, mutual respect, and a genuine connection. Over time, that strong friendship deepened into a relationship and eventually a business partnership.
When we started Good to Go Luxury Outdoors, we had already experienced glamping firsthand as a couple. Using the gear ourselves gave us unique insight into what creates a truly memorable and comfortable outdoor experience. From plush bedding to ambient lighting, every detail we design is rooted in creating an atmosphere where couples can relax, connect with nature, and, most importantly, connect with each other.
What makes our collaboration special is the foundation of friendship and shared experiences. Before we co-founded Good to Go Luxury Outdoors, we had already built a relationship based on trust, communication, and a shared passion for creating meaningful connections. These qualities are now the backbone of how we run our business and serve our clients.
At Good to Go Luxury Outdoors, everything we do is inspired by the power of connection—whether it’s helping couples celebrate milestones, bringing families closer together, or offering a unique way to connect with nature. Those moments are what inspire us every day and drive our mission to make the outdoors more approachable, comfortable, and unforgettable.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
Currently, we don’t sell on platforms because our services are highly specialized and personal. Unlike e-commerce products or vacation rentals, mobile glamping is still a growing and evolving industry, and there isn’t yet a dedicated platform for this type of offering.
For example, if you own a campground, you can use Hipcamp to list campsites, or if you manage a vacation rental, Airbnb is a natural choice. But for mobile glamping services like ours—where we bring the experience to the client and customize every setup based on their event or vision—there isn’t a platform that fully meets those needs.
We chose to focus on building our own website and booking system to create a direct connection with our clients. This allows us to personalize each experience and maintain full control over the customer journey, from initial inquiry to the final event. The biggest advantage of this approach is the ability to reflect our brand’s personality and tailor the experience for each client. However, the downside is that it requires more time and effort to reach potential clients compared to using a large, established platform.
