We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gaby Rincón. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gaby below.
Alright, Gaby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As a proud Mexican American and teacher in a predominantly Latine community, I witnessed firsthand the inequities that shaped my students’ lives. I saw how a lack of financial literacy limited opportunities and perpetuated cycles of poverty. I realized I was part of a system that encouraged students to go to college and follow the “get a good job and everything will be okay” narrative. But I knew the truth: to break the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck, a strong foundation in financial literacy is essential.
My own journey cemented this realization. After finding myself burdened with six figures of student loan debt, I set out to learn everything I could about personal finance. I began posting on TikTok to hold myself accountable, sharing what I was learning along the way. To my surprise, people resonated with my story and started asking for advice. That’s when I pivoted, creating RPF Education (Realistic Personal Finance) to merge my passions for education and finance.
Today, my mission is clear: to empower my community with the tools and knowledge they need to live money-stress-free. Through practical guidance, relatable content, and a focus on financial empowerment, I aim to help others take control of their finances and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Gaby Rincon, a proud first-generation Mexican American woman, full-time band and orchestra teacher, and passionate personal finance coach. Spending a decade teaching in Southeast LA, I witnessed firsthand how systemic inequities impacted my students and their families. This inspired me to take action and provide marginalized communities with the tools they need to achieve financial empowerment.
When quarantine hit, I faced $129,503 in student loan debt, $0 in savings, and a depleted emergency fund. Determined to change my situation, I immersed myself in financial education and started posting on TikTok for accountability. What began as a personal journey quickly evolved into Realistic Personal Finance (RPF) Education, where I now help people achieve financial freedom through tailored strategies and education.
I offer a range of services, including 1-on-1 coaching, group coaching, courses, seminars, and speaking engagements. My approach is rooted in inclusivity and empowerment, with a focus on finding strategies that align your money with your values and lifestyle—not the other way around. This identity-first approach sets me apart, as it allows us to explore how your experiences and mindset shape your financial habits and build a foundation for lasting success.
My mission is to create a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to take control of their finances. I believe financial freedom isn’t just about numbers—it’s about creating a life that reflects your dreams and values. If you’re ready to transform your financial future, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media presence by starting authentically and with a clear purpose. I began posting on TikTok to hold myself accountable while tackling $129,503 in student loan debt. What began as personal accountability turned into an opportunity to share financial tips and insights, which resonated with many people, especially those in marginalized communities.
To grow, I stayed consistent, relatable, and focused on educating my audience with simple, actionable tips based on my identity-first approach to financial literacy.
For those starting out, my advice is:
Have a clear purpose: Create content that aligns with your mission and serves your audience.
Be authentic: Share your real story and connect with people on a personal level.
Be consistent: Post regularly and improve over time.
Engage with your audience: Build a community by responding and connecting.
Add value: Focus on educating and solving problems.
Social media growth takes time, but when you stay true to yourself and focus on helping others, your audience will find you.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My biggest source of new clients has been word of mouth and personal referrals. People initially find me on TikTok, where they engage with my content for a while. After booking a service and working together for a few months, they often recommend me to their friends and family. This organic growth through referrals has been incredibly valuable in building my client base and creating a strong, supportive community.
