We were lucky to catch up with Jq Cervantes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, JQ thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have ever worked on is a painting that is so powerful, that it can instantly anchor me into my higher self. Let me give you a bit of the backstory of how it came about. Towards the end of 2023, after a few years of being a stay-at-home mom, I was feeling like I had lost touch with my own self expression and authentic nature. I decided it was time to get back to me, and so I set an intention to get tuned into my authentic self again, and also to tap into my higher self, so I could align with that version of myself. I was working with a coach & mentor of mine, who took me through this amazing meditation. During that session, we met my higher self, and gathered all the information about her expression, including the color of the crystalline energy she brings, what she looks like, and what affirmations she has for me. It was such a profound experience that lifted me up, inspired me, and left me feeling more aligned with my most powerful self. This coach of mine knew that I am an artist and so she empowered me to think about creating a painting that represented this experience.
A few days later, I felt the inspiration and momentum to create this powerful piece, and so I began. I used texture to create the crystals at the bottom of the painting, and carved into them, the three powerful affirmations I received from my higher self. I recreated the image of what I saw in that meditation, and had fun putting extra special touches on it that lit me up. There’s also subtle features that speak to parts of me and my beliefs. When I have shown this painting to people, their reactions are amazing. They all have expressed that there is a power and energy to this piece that is stunningly powerful.
For me, this painting instantly can bring me into alignment with the person I want to be, and the version of myself I strive for everyday. Not only is the imagery on the painting powerful, but all the meditations, journaling exercises, and visualizations I’ve done in tandem with this painting are felt instantaneously when I’m near it or even think about it.
I’m going to be giving this gift to others as well, because this experience has been one of the most powerful self development tools I’ve used over the last 20 years for actual change in my being. I want people to be able to experience their own magic using their own unique piece of art that they can anchor into. Stay tuned for that.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I used to create art just to create something beautiful, and also because people were buying my art and commissioning me. But once I realized the power that was within “the creation process”, then I shifted a bit and started incorporating artistic experiences into my empowerment coaching work. I realized that within the act of creating art, I was actually becoming my best self and tapping into a super powerful state of consciousness called Flow State. During and afterwards, I felt calmer, more in touch with my intuition, had answers and ideas come through, was more creative and productive, and felt more powerful as my authentic self. I wanted others to have this too!
At the time, I was already helping others become their best and most authentic selves using empowerment coaching, but once I discovered this unique magic by tapping into flow state, I ended up crafting my own unique brand of empowerment. This was in 2016 – I founded a one-of-a-kind experience of art, music, education, and meditation, called the Art Flowshop® – where we are tapping into flow state using artistic expression. With each attendee, I saw more and more powerful results. People were healing from traumas, removing blocks, starting new businesses, and overall feeling better leaving than when they came in.
Cut to 2024 (8 years later) . . . I’ve expanded and evolved the magic of this powerful impact. Now, through our Art as Alchemy brand, we have added more artistic methodologies to help people access their best self. Beyond the Art Flowshop®, we also use NeuroGraphica® and coaching methods, to help people transform, rewire their brains, and get empowered. Artistic expression is so incredibly powerful, for all, artists as well as people who don’t identify as an artist. It’s in the act of creating, getting into flow state, and tapping into the subconscious, that can have a profound impact on us mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically.
I feel so grateful to have found this unique space to work in and get to watch people create their best self and a life they love, all while creating their own unique art.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe that if society put a higher value on what artists and creatives can bring to this world, we would evolve faster, expand our views, and create more positive change. Creativity is how we evolve! Change doesn’t happen by doing the same things over and over again, and so we need new ideas. I believe that creatives have a special ability to tap into higher knowledge, and to be a channel for new ideas to come in from other realms. If society put more value on the abilities and gifts these people have, who knows where our society could evolve to. Imagine if our political system, and every company/business made sure to have a team of creative visionaries whose job it was to be looking for ways of becoming better and evolving our society, evolving the company and products, and finding new ways of solving problems. All evolutions and expansions have come first, from a creative idea that somebody had. I believe this is the most important trait and ability for us to grow and evolve as a society. And obviously, we need people with other specialized traits to be able to make the ideas become a reality, but without the artists and creatives, we wouldn’t have any new ideas to be created.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My own fulfillment and joy are ultimately what drives me in all endeavors, including my creative journey, but what contributes to my joy and fulfillment is helping people feel lit up and be authentically expressed. My mission and goal, through Art as Alchemy, is helping people discover their best and most authentic self, and then align with that version energetically, using the magic of artistic expression! The artistic methods we use allow the mind (and it’s habitual, programmed, automatic functioning) to quiet, so that they can access their authentic soul essence and tap into their subconscious, in order to become this highest version of themselves. The thing is, when this happens, people feel lit up and powerful, and when that happens, they can go out in the world and make profound change! That, to me, is what drives my creative journey. Not only to do that in my own life, but to help others access it as well.
