We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monte Reyment. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monte below.
Monte, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken was starting Take Action Realty Group just 1.5 years ago. I wasn’t interested in doing real estate the traditional way—I wanted to break the mold and create a company built entirely around relationships, gratitude, and community. I knew the industry could feel transactional at times, and I wanted to prove that leading with purpose and putting people first could still be a winning formula.
The decision wasn’t without its challenges. Starting a business, especially in real estate, is no small feat, and we’re still in the thick of navigating those early, uncertain stages. There are scary moments—times when the financials, the weight of leadership, or the sheer grind of building something from the ground up can feel overwhelming. But every day, I remind myself that if I hadn’t taken this chance, I’d always wonder, what if? Regret wasn’t an option.
We’re not “there” yet, but the progress we’ve made so far inspires me to keep pushing. Seeing the relationships we’re building, the lives we’re impacting, and the community we’re fostering reassures me that the risk was worth it. This journey isn’t about arriving at a destination; it’s about proving that staying true to your principles and taking a leap of faith can lead to something extraordinary—even when the road is still being paved.
Monte, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Monte, and I’m the founder and leader of Take Action Realty Group, a real estate brokerage in Northeast Wisconsin that’s rooted in gratitude, service, and building meaningful relationships. I didn’t get into real estate just to sell houses—I wanted to create a business that prioritizes people, their goals, and their dreams. Before launching Take Action Realty Group, I had been in the industry long enough to see what worked and, more importantly, what didn’t. I knew there was room to do things differently, to lead with purpose and to make every transaction more than just a deal—it’s a step toward changing someone’s life.
At Take Action Realty Group, we provide full-service real estate support, working with individuals, families, and investors. Our focus spans everything from buying and selling single-family homes to partnering with long-term and short-term rental investors. What sets us apart is our client-centric approach. For us, real estate isn’t about closing deals; it’s about opening doors—both figuratively and literally. We emphasize building relationships that last a lifetime, not just during the buying or selling process. We also go the extra mile to educate and empower our clients, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
What I’m most proud of is the culture we’re creating. Our team operates on the principle that success is a shared journey. Whether it’s helping a first-time buyer feel confident, assisting investors in growing their portfolios, or giving back to our community, we’re intentional about making an impact. What I want people to know is that Take Action Realty Group isn’t just a brokerage; it’s a movement. It’s about taking action—not just in real estate but in life—to create a better future for yourself and those around you.
We’re still in our early days, but what keeps us driven is knowing that we’re not just building a business—we’re building a legacy of service, gratitude, and growth. That’s what defines our brand, and it’s what drives everything we do.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most pivotal and challenging moments in my journey was navigating a partnership within Take Action Realty Group that ultimately didn’t work out as planned. At the time, I entered into the partnership with optimism, believing we shared a common vision and aligned values. However, as things unfolded, it became clear that the dynamics weren’t conducive to the growth or direction I had envisioned for the business. This experience brought challenges that tested me both financially and emotionally, and it also impacted a valued relationship with my former business partner.
Breaking away from the partnership was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make, but it was also a necessary step to for Take Action Realty to survive and grow. I took on the financial responsibilities of the business, not as a burden, but as a commitment to the future I wanted to build. During this time, I found immense strength and inspiration in the people around me—friends, family, and colleagues who reminded me of my purpose and encouraged me to persevere. Their belief in me was a reminder that setbacks don’t define us; it’s how we respond and grow from them that truly matters.
Looking back, I see this experience as a turning point. It taught me invaluable lessons about discernment, alignment, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who share your principles and vision. While it was a challenging chapter, it also set the stage for creating the Take Action Realty Group I had always imagined—a business rooted in trust, gratitude, and service. I’m grateful for the lessons it taught me and the opportunity to rebuild stronger and more intentional than ever before.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
Yes, I have bought a business, and it was one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve made. In July of 2024, I purchased a business and renamed it Take Action Events and Rentals. The idea for this venture actually came from our desire to celebrate the amazing clients of Take Action Realty Group. We wanted to create memorable experiences for them, and that vision quickly evolved into something much larger.
At the time, we had a 3,000-square-foot garage that wasn’t being fully utilized, we had a few very talented individuals who wanted a change and more responsibility, so we decided to convert it into an event space. What started as a simple concept has turned into a solid business. Today, Take Action Events and Rentals has hosted small weddings, showers, parties, and corporate events. We’ve also stocked several storage units with wedding decor, party supplies, tables, linens, chairs, and more, offering a one-stop solution for event planning. It’s amazing to see how an idea centered on gratitude and celebration has grown into a meaningful part of our business ecosystem.
The acquisition process was both exciting and challenging. It required careful planning, understanding the market, and aligning the business model with our values. It wasn’t without its hurdles, but the result has been well worth it. Take Action Events and Rentals has not only become a successful extension of our brand but also a way to create a sense of community and connection, which is at the heart of everything we do.
