We were lucky to catch up with Timothy Gannon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Timothy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
We recently did a job on Ellis Island for a client. It was our second job for them. They were a start-up in the insure-tech space. At our first job, they didn’t have a lot of money, so we recommended an explainer video for them. Two years later, they are rocking it and asked us to do a marketing video for them to be shot on historic Ellis Island. We came up with a concept, and it came out exactly as we planned, They were very happy with the final product. And, it’s been able to get them more high-end clients.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with movies.
My mother loved horror movies, but she couldn’t watch them alone, so when I was a child, she would wake me up late, make some popcorn, and we would watch scary movies together. It was not only meaningful to me and my mom, but it instilled in me a love of movies. I would watch anything and everything: dramas, westerns, film noir, foreign films, whatever. When I learned you could go to school and learn to make them, I jumped in and haven’t looked back. I’ ‘ve worked on episodic TV shows and feature films. Now that I have my own company, l love making videos for clients.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As a creative and businessperson, the most rewarding aspect is when you pitch a client on a concept, which they like. And then you deliver precisely what you said you were going to do and it’s on time and on budget. It’s very rewarding!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
95% of my clients are either repeat customers or referrals. So what I try to do is to continually reach out to them and let them know I’m still living and breathing. And I hope they are, too.
