We recently connected with Camila Abrantes and have shared our conversation below.
Camila, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I just published a book on Amazon, and I must say it’s the most meaningful project I’ve worked on because it’s my first published work. The book is called The Knight and The Bluebird. It’s a children’s book, but I would say it’s for all ages, including adults, since its main message is that true treasure lies in the courage to face our fears and confront the unknown. It’s a reminder that facing fear can lead to unexpected treasures, whether they are personal growth, meaningful connections, or deeper self-understanding.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A little bit about me—I’m an actress originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and currently living in Los Angeles, California. Before moving to the US, I also lived in London, UK. I’ve always been drawn to the world of storytelling, ever since I started acting at the age of 17. Acting was my first real entry into the creative world, and it sparked something in me that I’ve carried ever since: a deep love for the power of stories and how they can connect us across cultures, experiences, and generations.
My journey into writing, however, has been a more recent evolution. As I continued to explore my craft, I realized that storytelling isn’t just about performing someone else’s words—it’s about creating your own narratives. That’s what led me to publish my first book, The Knight and the Bluebird. While my roots are in acting, writing has allowed me to explore a different form of expression, and I wanted to share a story that reflects themes that are close to my heart—courage, growth, resilience, and the treasure found in facing our fears.
Writing this book has been a deeply personal project for me, and seeing it come to life has been incredibly rewarding.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most significant lessons in resilience came when I left Brazil at the age of 23 to move abroad. I was leaving everything I once knew—my home, my family, my language, and my culture—and stepping into a completely unfamiliar world. It wasn’t easy. I had to adapt to a new language, a different climate, and an entirely different way of life. The uncertainty of what the future held was overwhelming at times, and there were moments when I wondered if I had made the right decision. But I had to trust that things would work out, even though I had no control over what the future would bring. It taught me that resilience isn’t just about facing external challenges, but about having the internal strength to trust the unknown and push through despite the fears.
This experience of becoming an immigrant shaped my entire perspective on resilience, and I carried that same mindset into my acting career. Being self-employed as an actor means constantly facing uncertainty—auditioning without knowing what the outcome will be, or wondering if the next opportunity will come. But the courage to face the unknown is essential, and it mirrors the journey I describe in The Knight and the Bluebird. In the story, the knight has to leave everything he once knew to seek his great treasure, not knowing what dangers or challenges lie ahead. The theme of trusting in the process and having the courage to confront fears is something I deeply relate to.
For me, resilience is about facing the unknown with determination and trust, even when the path isn’t clear. It’s the ability to keep going, even when you can’t see exactly where you’re headed, and knowing that each step forward is bringing you closer to something valuable.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and a creative is the profound impact we can have on people’s lives. I truly believe that actors, storytellers, and creatives in general are the ‘doctors of the heart.’ We have the unique ability to touch emotions, provide comfort, and inspire change through our work. In essence, being an artist is not just about creating—it’s about serving the audience, offering them something that touches their heart, ignites their imagination, or gives them hope. That’s the true reward for me.
