Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michaela Horvathova. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Michaela, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in my professional career was when I started the 2 Sober Girls Podcast. For over a decade, I had been working as a health coach, yoga instructor, and digital creator. While I loved what I did and enjoyed a level of success and freedom, something was missing. It wasn’t until I embarked on my own healing journey and became alcohol-free that I realized just how much untapped potential I had within me.
Choosing to remove alcohol from my life—even though I wasn’t addicted or at rock bottom—became the catalyst for profound transformation. The small amounts I consumed, though seemingly harmless, were quietly dulling my creativity, focus, and motivation. Letting go of it allowed me to step into the best version of myself.
What surprised me most was how the ripple effect extended to every area of my life. My health improved, my energy soared, and my business reached new heights. This clarity inspired me to create a community and platform where I could help other women on their own journeys—whether they’re exploring a sober-curious lifestyle or navigating full sobriety.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned from this experience is that the inner work we do—no matter how challenging—always pays off in ways we can’t fully anticipate. When we take the time to heal and align with our true selves, everything else falls into place. Now, through my podcast and community, I get to guide women toward living their best, alcohol-free lives, and it’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who are just learning about me, my journey into wellness, sobriety, and entrepreneurship started from a place of deep personal transformation. In my early 20s, I hit rock bottom—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I had developed unhealthy habits, and my life felt misaligned. My gateway to change was yoga. It helped me begin incorporating healthier habits and opened the door to a completely new way of living. Little by little, I transformed my life, my mindset, and my body.
This transformation sparked a passion for helping others. I wanted to empower people to live healthier, happier lives, to step into their power, and to create intentional, fulfilling routines. I knew this was my mission. To pursue it, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and became a certified health coach over a decade ago. That education gave me the tools, confidence, and foundation to help others.
From there, my entrepreneurial mindset kicked in. I taught myself web design, digital marketing, and how to create online businesses. Over the years, I’ve helped women build websites, launch podcasts, and create digital courses. When the pandemic hit, I went all-in on my online space, creating digital courses and building my brand.
After graduating from the IIN, I continued investing in my growth by hiring coaches and taking courses. Personal development is a lifelong journey, and I believe that by learning and implementing new skills and strategies, I not only grow as a person but also enhance my ability to help others.
One of my proudest creations is the 2 Sober Girls Podcast, which I co-host with my Erinn. It began as a curiosity—just two women sharing how amazing life can be when you’re living alcohol-free. Sobriety often carries a stigma, but we’re breaking that narrative by showing that living alcohol-free is empowering, exciting, and full of possibilities. This podcast has evolved into a movement and a community that uplifts and inspires women to embrace sobriety as a superpower.
Today, I offer one-on-one coaching for wellness and for women looking to launch or scale their online businesses. I also lead the Sober Girls Mastermind, an alcohol-free community where we dive deep into self-growth, mindset, spirituality, and action-oriented steps to transform lives. My clients often say they love working with me because I blend practical strategies with spiritual alignment, helping them envision what’s possible and giving them the tools to create it.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach. I believe transformation happens at the intersection of mindset, action, and spirituality. I’m proud of the life I’ve built, following my intuition and staying committed to my dreams—even when others didn’t see the vision. My work is all about creating a life that feels aligned, inspired, and abundant. I’m so excited to continue helping women rewrite their stories and discover what’s possible for them.
Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
When I first started my journey in wellness, spirituality, and later building an online business, I funded my growth by bartending. It gave me the time freedom and steady income I needed to invest in myself and my business. Bartending wasn’t just a job—it was a learning experience. It allowed me to connect with so many different people, engage in meaningful conversations, and gain a deeper understanding of what people desire, what they struggle with, and what truly lights them up.
Interestingly, bartending became one of the greatest tools in my personal and professional development. It taught me how to be myself, how to put myself out there, and how to connect with others on a human level. It also gave me the financial resources to pursue courses, hire coaches, and build my coaching practice.
Eventually, as I started making money through my coaching, digital products, and other entrepreneurial ventures, I decided to let bartending go. It stopped feeling aligned with my lifestyle and the message I was sharing about wellness and sobriety. While I cherished that chapter of my life, I knew it was time to move on and fully embrace the next phase of my journey.
Have you ever had to pivot?
There have been many times in my journey where I’ve had to pivot—each one shaping who I am today. When I first fell in love with yoga, I became a yoga teacher and thought that was my path. Then I discovered health coaching, and I was certain that was my calling. Later, I created a couple of my own podcasts and realized I wanted to help other women bring their voices to life by launching their own shows.
But one of the biggest shifts came when we launched the 2 Sober Girls Podcast. It opened my eyes to a profound need for women to connect and have honest, vulnerable conversations about sobriety, healing, wellness and the empowerment that comes with it—conversations that weren’t happening anywhere else. This shift felt deeply aligned with where my energy was meant to be, and it’s a space that continues to light me up.
What I’ve learned through all these pivots is that my journey will always evolve. I trust that where my voice needs to be heard and the work I need to do will unfold naturally. This mindset takes the pressure off and allows me to flow with what feels most aligned. It’s a way of working and living that feels true to my personality and my purpose.
