We recently connected with Liz Lyon and have shared our conversation below.
Liz , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I always loved photography- especially nature and landscape. When I started my business I really wanted to create my own way in life- be my own boss, make my own hours and spend as much time with my family as possible. So I left my teaching job in 2018 and told my husband to trust me! Haha
I knew I had to do more than just nature and landscape to get my name out there. With my background in teaching I knew families, couples and just people in general would be specialty! I grew my business from there!

Liz , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Liz and I am the owner of Liz Lyon Photography. Ever since having my kids I realize how fast life flies before our eyes and how important it is to be present in the moment.
I pride myself on making time stand still, capturing natural moments as they happen and providing beautiful images for my clients to cherish forever.
I am a kid at heart. I talk way too much and am constantly making jokes to make all my clients laugh and feel at ease. I’m constantly having my clients move around, play games and truly be in the moment with one another.
my clients can tell you- my sessions feel like old friends catching up while capturing it all though my lens.
When you hire me as your photographer you get so much more than just digital files. You leave my sessions with a meaningful experience, genuine imagery and memories that can be displayed in your home and passed down for years to come! All while having fun!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid made my career take off.. I offered front step sessions and from there my business grew. I had over 70 families reach out for sessions and went from a few sessions a month to a few sessions per week! After that all the families I met through my front step project becomes lifelong clients including people they knew and so on.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is key in my profession. Having a platform that I can showcase my work for everyone to see has help my business continually grow. The most important thing that I have taken away from social media is that you need to be consistent! Post everyday or every other day!
