Artavia , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
The way I got my first client? I complimented their shirt. I was actually at work that day and saw a lady walking up to me needing some help finding some bread, I showed her where the product was and said I like your shirt! Who made it for you? She smiled and said thank you I ordered it off line, I said ok how much you pay for it? She said 30 dollars I told her I make shirts and gave her my business card next thing you know I had my first order from a stranger later on that week
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m from Florida but I live in Atlanta I started my business about 3 years ago I always wanted a business but never knew what I wanted to really do I prayed on it for a while then left it alone I’ve always been a fan of dope shirts so why not make my own. Been thru a lot in my life and prayer has always worked so I came up with keep praying then the name of my tshirt business will be called godly_shirts it’s crazy how everything was flowing. Things I solve for clients? Quick turn arounds, great prices, and fresh and crisp T-shirt’s every time. My most proud moment has been getting orders out of state and hearing the Feedback from strangers.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The way My business got funded was thru gifts, if it was Christmas I would ask for specific things that could go towards my business. For Christmas I went on Amazon looked heat press and asked my sister if she could buy it for me, for my birthday I asked my best friend for a silhouette machine, I saved money from my taxes and bought a lab top, some paper to do printouts to practice. One of my friends taught me a lot about mirroring words and measurements something I knew nothing about. The more she taught me the more I had to practice i really didn’t know what the hell I was doing but I kept asking questions and watching YouTube videos just to learn I used to stop by this T-shirt shop in Atlanta and just ask all kinds of questions I would watch the owner Tanisha make shirts, hats, banners cups, Any and Everything and still give me advice on what I’m getting myself into, her best advice was never turn down a client and you know what that mean right? If they order it be hungry enough to learn something new so I always stood on that.

I would say adding strangers especially people that have there own business doesn’t matter the race we all can use some help especially if your new to it using #hashtags, and sharing reels as much as you can. Reposting other people brands, supporting and buying their product.
