We were lucky to catch up with Amanda Kacperowski recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Amanda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I got my first client by announcing my new venture on my personal Facebook page to friends and family. I created a regular social media post discussing my new brand, my goals, and what we can do for our clients, and someone from my past reached out telling me that I was exactly what they were looking for to help elevate their brand.
I put my heart and soul into helping my first client succeed, even though I only had one client, and once other people saw what I was doing for her and her brand, that is when the referrals began to pour in. I received more and more business through her and the chain continued until, by word of mouth, the news spread.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my business when I was just 24 years old. I previously worked at a larger marketing agency right out of college where I learned how to apply what I learned in college to real-life brands. From there I continued to educate myself and grow my skills, constantly challenging myself and taking new courses to expand my knowledge as far as I could. The agency I worked for specialized in a specific niche of real estate developments but I felt my newfound skills could be used outside of just that. I decided that I was going to build my company after working hours at night and see where it could go. To my surprise, it was successful and grew quicker than I could ever imagine. I decided to pursue my dream full-time and go all in that year.
24 East Media is a full-service marketing agency. We work with brands from both start-ups to more established companies looking to expand their brand awareness and scale their businesses. Our services include things like, brand development and awareness, web development, social media management, lead generation, PR, SEO, and more!
What sets us apart from others is we are very hands-on with our clients, keeping them involved, informed, and educated along the way. Most agencies specialize in a specific niche but we work with brands in all stages who have the same goal of growth.
I am most proud of how far we have come in the past two years. I took a real risk quitting my full-time job in the middle of a worldwide pandemic with no backup plan other than taking 24 East Media to the top. Not only did I work hard and sometimes put in 80 work weeks just to grow the brand, but I also kept my faith the entire time continuously telling myself I could do it and I will succeed. I think sometimes we have an idea we want to achieve but there is a part deep down that tries to tell us we will never succeed. My biggest advice is to shut that part out and have faith in yourself.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals from my current clients as well as networking. When you dedicate your time and effort to your current clients and help them achieve their goals, they want to tell the world and actually end up spreading the word and doing the marketing for you! I ironically have never had to market my marketing agency.
I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends and that has really helped my business tremendously. You have to keep the mindset, “everyone knows someone.” From whatever walk of life, someone knows someone else with a brand or business or someone that works for a business. Through networking and forming connections you can utilize their network to increase your own clientele and network. I also like to utilize apps such as Bumble Bizz to form connections with others in the industry. I have onboarded a few clients from that app and created a lot of really cool connections that have allowed me to form mutually beneficial partnerships along the way, whether they are direct clients or just people who own brands that can help boost my own business.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
At my old agency, my boss acted as a micromanager on everything we did, which made things very frustrating. I vowed that when I left and started my own business that I would refrain from acting the same. When I first onboarded my first team member it was a little hard to let her handle things on her own, after all this company was a baby and it was my baby. After some time I remembered the vow I made to myself and developed that level of trust to let her handle things on her own. It was definitely a challenge but if you are looking to scale your business, you need to have a team you can trust to help get you there.
