We were lucky to catch up with Ashley + Lauren The Little Gatherings recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley + Lauren, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The Little Gatherings was a Covid baby that we named with the idea that people could still “gather,” even if at the time the number of people allowed in any given space was only 6. Ashley had hosted a surprise birthday party for Lauren in September, and had the idea to make it a picnic. Lauren had put together a picnic a few years before to celebrate her birthday, and Ashley thought it would be a great idea to celebrate her in the same way all over again! – Due to Covid precautions, no restaurants were taking parties larger than 6 people at the time, so Ashley decided to host a beach picnic for Lauren’s birthday so that everyone could come, while still being out in open air and as close or as far apart as they were comfortable with. – After a ton of love on social media surrounding the gathering Ashley planned and set up, the two sisters decided they were onto something, and fast forward a week later, The Little Gatherings was born.
Although our bread and butter will always be picnics, we decided not to use the word “picnic” in our name, so that as our business grows, we are able to take on whatever events and ideas come our way! This is already paying off, as we have now stepped into taking on elopements and other small events!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are two sisters with creative minds who have always loved hosting parties and events for our friends and loved ones. With that being said, we both also have backgrounds in marketing and events, and were so excited to finally pour our passion into our own business and project.
We are a luxury picnic and events company, that specializes in picnics and small gatherings. On a day to day basis, we serve our clients through working with them to help plan their next event, while at the same time coordinating all aspects of it for them, and handling all of the speed bumps that come with planning and executing the event.
We pride ourselves on our service and passion for what we do, which pours into our work and the love we have for our clients. From the first inquiry a client makes with us, connecting with them and making sure to make each event the most special for each individual client, is why we do what we do. We have a passion for people and giving them these memories through each event and gathering.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We truly believe in organic growth, which is exactly how we built The Little Gatherings to what it is today! We started with what we had, and grew one step at a time, taking on only what we could, until we could take on more, and so on. We are so blessed to live in a time where social media is as big as it is, and through teaming up with like minded people and other badass business owners, we began to start to see growth.
We have always stayed true to who we are, which is just two creative sisters with a love for people and events. We took that idea, and began helping clients plan the best events out there, and through word of mouth and a little working knowledge of how social media works, our growth began.
For someone new, we’d say just start! Take your ideas and put them out there, and let people come to you that like what you do. We have always felt we have attracted clients that love not only what we do, but also how we do it, and that means the world to us!
