Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabnie Dozier
Hi Tabnie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an Emmy-award winning journalist with a background in Broadcast News Journalism. I worked for 11 years as a TV Anchor, Producer and Reporter in news markets on both sides of the country. My mental health started declining in 2020 and it was compounded by the loss of a dear loved one in 2021. I wouldn’t wish having to grieve as a public figure on anyone, it was unbearable. With no support from the news agency I was working with, I left the business I loved since I was a child and launched Tabnie Dozier Enterprises LLC in 2022. It is the freest and most impactful I’ve felt as a storyteller in quite some time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is the most taxing, confusing, stressful, magnificent, incredible and most marvelous journey I have ever encountered. I’m not just learning about business operations and scaling, I’m learning about myself and evolution as a woman, leader, community advocate and business owner. The biggest struggle was leaving stable income for the unknown. Especially starting out, I had no clients, just a firm realization that I wanted to live my life on my terms and no one else’s. Paid time off is hard to come by as a first responder, local television news operates 365 days a year. Now as a business owner, I purposely carve space for my mental and physical health and the wellbeing of my team members. I am the leader that I never had, in my personal and professional realms. The amount of patience I’ve had to endure, navigating client relations, business taxes and insurance, the collegiate internship process to name a few. How do you know how to operate a government contract until you secure one? Sheesh! It’s been the wildest ride of my life and the elevation of my faith has skyrocketed. Very few are brave enough to bet on themselves and their talents by starting something of their own. My armor is battered but its still intact and we will press on. Not only do I believe in this entity, so do corporate companies, federal entities and charities. This is the most magical honor and the joy outweighs the uncertainty and difficulties.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Storytelling is such an amazing honor. Providing a voice to worthy causes, unique triumphs and issues that might not be heard is a responsibility and privilege. That same passion carried me from my TV News Anchor career to my business ownership journey. Now, with Tabnie Dozier Enterprises, we story tell without the time constraints and public service demands of local news agencies. We curate compelling features for clients to post on their YouTube and additional social media platforms. We craft passionate article write-ups for their newsletters and websites. We create and distribute press releases to solicit earned media exposure to increase awareness and exposure of worthy causes and promoting local businesses. The feeling of freedom in this realm is indescribable. All of this is taking place while staying rooted in the foundational and ethical journalistic practices we learned during undergraduate studies and while working in various news and print outlets in the U.S.
What sets us apart from other marketing agencies is our journalistic integrity and expertise. We are more than communication professionals, we are truth seekers and fact tellers. Most media agencies offer video production and creative direction, most marketing companies offer crisis communications and public relations experience. We have yet to find an entity that does all of the above, while also offering public speaking and media training and event planning and emcee services. TDE is one of one!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Hands down my answer is audacity and faith. Those two characteristics are a package. Possessing the audacity to go against the capitalistic and traditional methods of storytelling and consulting is rare. Being rooted in my faith and trusting God to lead me and remain obedient during the ups and downs is rare. Especially when there have been a multitude of times where clients paid invoices late and I had no clue where my next meal was coming from or if I’d be able to keep the lights on and pay bills.
Submitting myself to my Creator and my ancestors has produced character, strength, tenacity and audacity that I would have never obtained in local newsrooms.
