Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Bermudez
Hi Johnny, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from a small town called Brooklyn, NY (laughs). I started my career on Wall Street, working for 12 years as a Financial Advisor in the Private Client Group for large firms. After that, I became an NFL player agent, managing athletes and negotiating deals. But something was still missing.
I decided to dive into acting and went to the Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC, where I trained for two years in the Meisner technique. That experience opened up a new creative path for me. I appeared and co-starred in some big TV shows, which eventually led me to start Skynet Media.
With Skynet, I produced and shot our first short film, “The Villains Code,” with some amazing collaborators. Now I’m working on my first feature film and a host of other projects both in front and behind the camera.
So yeah, it’s been a wild ride. I’ve worn a few different hats—but hey, who’s counting, right?
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? That’s a loaded question. Definitely not. But if you’re living a full life, you’ve got to expect the bumps. There’s been a lot of struggles, and yeah, some loneliness too. The truth is, not everyone—sometimes even the people closest to you—can fully understand or embrace the level of sacrifice it takes to chase your dreams. Most people are wired for safety, and that’s fine. I’m not knocking it. But that’s just not me.
Whether it was making the jump from Wall Street to creative work, or building Skynet from scratch, I’ve faced plenty of challenges. Sometimes the risks I took seemed crazy to others, including myself—but hey, fuck it. The road isn’t always smooth, but that’s where the real growth happens.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started out as an actor, and it’s still a big part of what I do and who I am at my core. Although I’ve appeared and co-starred on some big TV shows, for a long time my focus was purely on landing roles. But over time, I realized I didn’t want to just wait for opportunities—I wanted to create them. That’s when I shifted gears and started producing my own work.
Now, with Skynet Media, I’m not just an actor. I’m also a filmmaker, storyteller, and creator. We work with brands, companies, and individuals to tell their stories in a way that feels real and impactful. Whether it’s a short film, a feature, or a project for a client, it’s all about bringing a vision to life in a way that resonates.
What sets me apart? I think it’s that I’ve lived a lot of different lives—from Wall Street to being an NFL agent to acting and now filmmaking. I bring all of that experience to the table. I’m proud that we’ve built something where we can handle everything ourselves, from the first idea to the final cut, which gives us the freedom to tell stories the way we want to.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What I’d love to share is that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself or chase something new. I’ve taken big leaps in my life, and each step has come with its own set of challenges and rewards. But the one thing I’ve learned is this: if you believe in something, go after it. Don’t wait for the perfect time, because it doesn’t exist.
You don’t have to stick to just one path. If you have the passion and the drive to put in the work, you can create the life you want. It’s not always smooth, and there will be struggles, but that’s where the growth happens. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve when you refuse to settle.
So, if there’s something you’re dreaming of, start now. Take the risk, make the leap, and see where it takes you. You might just surprise yourself.
