Johanna Ocampo, Director of Fasttrack Languages and Fasttrack Languages International, is passionate about empowering students through language education. A certified teacher and language developer from Colombia, she has over a decade of teaching experience inspired by her childhood in her mother’s classroom.
Johanna combines effective communication strategies with Montessori principles and the Communicative Approach, creating a nurturing environment for learners of all ages, from toddlers to adults. She believes that learning a second language goes beyond career goals; it enriches lives by fostering connections and understanding among diverse cultures.
Her mission is to help students achieve their language goals effectively, enabling them to navigate the world with confidence and empathy. Through her leadership, Fasttrack Languages inspires a community of learners who appreciate the beauty of communication and shared experiences, ultimately promoting a more connected and understanding world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Fasttrack Languages International has navigated a challenging journey over the past few years. The pandemic posed significant hurdles, and after seven years in our previous location, we faced the daunting task of finding a new space in Jersey City, New Jersey, that would be accessible and affordable for our students. Despite these obstacles, including securing full-time teachers and effective marketing, our commitment to providing quality language education has remained unwavering. The struggles have been tough, but the rewards are evident as we witness our students thriving in their language learning journeys. We are fulfilling our mission to help them develop essential communication skills, fostering bilingual diversity and the ability to connect with others. Ultimately, we believe that effective communication leads to a more sensitive and enriched life, allowing individuals to navigate their world with empathy and understanding.

Fasttrack Languages International , located in New Jersey, was founded eight years ago, beginning with a dynamic language summer camp. We have since transformed into a comprehensive language school that caters to both children and adults, offering classes in Spanish, English, French, and Italian, available both in-person and online.
Our mission is to help students achieve their learning goals through effective language acquisition. We provide structured learning paths that enable students to communicate confidently and efficiently in their target languages.
Embraced by the community, Fasttrack Languages understands the importance of being bilingual and fostering a diverse environment. We believe that effective communication cultivates connections and personal growth, allowing individuals to live more sensitively, with empathy, compassion, and understanding.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Many people who know me or my work might be surprised to learn that I have a deep passion for dancing and connecting with others in a free-spirited way. While they see me as a dedicated language educator, few realize that I view language as an omnipresent force that surrounds us, constantly facilitating communication and connection. I believe that every interaction is an opportunity for growth and learning, and I strive to live life more sensitively each day. This ongoing journey of observation and engagement enhances my understanding of the world and deepens my appreciation for the diverse ways we express ourselves. Language isn’t just a tool for me; it’s a vibrant path that enriches my experiences and relationships.
