Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lea Hayes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Lea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I have always loved creating jewelry. I started playing around with new ideas and materials and I loved how versatile leather could be! It is also so lightweight so people really gravitated to that aspect of it. The personalization that I create for my clients is one of the things that separates me from others. I can create personalized pieces for the perfect gift!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

When I first started HydeandchicATL it was a space for my to have autonomy as a new mom. Now that I have two daughters and a busy schedule, it’s been challenging to make time for my business. I have taken this summer off from making any new earrings because there are just not enough hours in the day with the kids home from School. I am ready to get back into it when school Starts back in the fall! Look for new designs!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I think one of the reasons I’ve been successful for the long haul has a lot to do with my prices. I offer my designs at a much lower price than my competitors. I do this because I love what I do. I never want my customers to feel like they are overpriced. My earrings are made with love and I want to make sure they everyone who wants to purchase a pair can do so without feeling guilty!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I have had to pivot my business with my growing family. It has been difficult because I love what I do, but I had to put it on the back burner so I can be present with my kids. I am looking forward to making more time for my business and hope you will follow along for exciting things to come!
