MICHAEL, appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
The 3 years, I was working for Corporate America and I absolutely dreaded it. I felt locked in a cage.
Helping lead Social Media Marketing for some brands within our company, I knew that this was something that every business needed and felt that there wasn’t a dedicated media company that provided ALL content creation services for small businesses.
I took a leap of faith and turned in my 2-weeks notice, immediately getting to work and accessing my “Personal Network”.
I literally went through every contact I had saved on my phone and cold called/texted/e-mailed everyone on the list to let them know about our services – and out of those contacts, some people booked a 2nd meeting with me.
With those, I was able to establish my very FIRST client – a Real Estate Broker/Investor in the Seattle area. She has been doing great with her personal brand and content and she has been with us since Day 1!

MICHAEL, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry after spending several years as an Actor in Hollywood.
Back in Hollywood, I was like any other actor, chasing auditions and trying to make a name for myself. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to work on numerous productions, each one teaching me valuable lessons.
But deep down, I knew something was missing. It wasn’t until I started helping out friends with their video projects that I found my true passion.
As I lent a hand to these aspiring filmmakers, I discovered the magic of storytelling. It wasn’t about big budgets or flashy effects; it was about connecting with people on a human level, sharing experiences and emotions in a way that only video can.
With my background in marketing, I began to merge my skills with my newfound love for video production. From small startups to established brands, my videos helped them connect with their audience in a whole new way. And as their audience grew, so did their revenue.
So, with a heart full of determination and a hunger for creativity, I started my journey filled with uncertainty, twists, turns, and setbacks.
Along the way, I met incredible people who shared my vision, and together, we formed the backbone of Praised Media.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I was in my mid 30s and I was currently working a 9-5 – which I was not totally happy with. I felt like a robot, going into the office each day and doing the same thing. I felt that I did not have an impact on what I was doing.
The perks were great (company car, great health benefits, PTO, etc.) but I was not 100% happy. Even my wife would notice how unhappy I was.
It wasn’t until I requested vacation and my Manager denied it, that really triggered me to do something new.
I always had the “Entrepreneur Bug” inside of me and I knew that I just had to find the right path to fulfill it.
I did some personal reflection and realized that my expertise was Video Content Creation. I was already doing it on a Corporate level, so why not extend the services to my local community and build my own team?
I was hard at work the next 30 days, building out my team as well as my plan to scale it pass the $55,000/year I was currently making.
With my first 3 clients I signed, I was able to surpass that number and then I turned in my 2 weeks and continued with Praised Media!
If it wasn’t for God and the great support from my wife, Thesa, I wouldn’t have had the courage to make the pivot.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I would say Social Media all day. I made a commitment to post a video every single day on the Instagram and YouTube platforms and though I do not get millions of views per video (views are not everything!) – I would still get a steady flow of leads through the specific content I have been posting.
In addition to this: leading workshops for small business owners have worked tremendously as well. Creating personal connections are everything!
