We recently connected with Kimberly Redmond and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My junior year of high school is when I knew that media was my passion. I started to look into different schools and looking into radio stations and television stations that I could possibly intern with.

Kimberly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my media journey in 2011, professionally in 2014. My cousin and I decided to create our own media blog, covering different music and the hottest topics that were in the news. We caught our big break thanks to the Taste of Chicago granting us media coverage. I believe our drive and passion for music set us aside from others. I’m most proud of K Brand University, and my podcast ‘When I First Heard’.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
SHARE OUR WORK! like our work, it’s free. It gives us more attention, it pushes more people to our pages. Everyone is trying their best so why not support? I believe that we all are here to help each other.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Yes, I wish I knew more about fellowships, and having the resources/mentors to guide me in the media realm.
