We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kwavi Agbeyegbe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kwavi below.
Hi Kwavi, thanks for joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
One of my clients came to me feeling like her life was over. She was in her 60s and a retired principal. She had just lost her mother. She felt like she was in a dark place, those were the exact words she used to describe.
She joined my program and she started to do the work and I remember her just telling me. I’m so happy and excited. I wake up happy. She had lost weight, she was feeling her feeling as uncomfortable as it could be sometimes and her relationships had improved.
She realised the power was within. Everything was within her and she knew that it was all about her thoughts not the circumstance. She saw that the source of her pain was her thoughts. And our thoughts produce our feelings. We act based on how we feel. Results are created by the actions we take.
She looks visibly different in the video from our first sessions to now. She is radiant and glowing. She has started a new business, is on social media and is about to start a Youtube channel;. All this happened because she believed in herself and was open to being coached by me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share with her the tools that she has used to change her life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Life Coach, Author and speaker and I started this health and wellness journey at 19. I watched a documentary an decided to stop eating meat. I then decided to question everything I ate. My college friends began to ask me what I was doing as my body began to change and I started to create meal plans for them and they began to experience great results. Once college was over I started my career as an IT consultant and moved to Boston, then settled in Atlanta. I kept up what I was doing and I would get people asking me to help them lose weight and maintain. I enjoyed sharing what I knew with others.
At this point I was helping my friends and family to lose weight but I didn’t have a business. At 42 I decided to quit IT and invest in a health and wellness coaching program so that I could follow my dream of becoming a Health & Wellness Coach. The program was great but I felt I needed something else. So I enrolled in The Life Coach School where I became certified as a Life Coach and a Weight Loss Coach.
I then started my business a year after that and worked on it part-time while running my husband’s Internal medicine practice. Then in 2020 I decided to pursue my business full-time. I did coaching as well as offering international retreats which I’ve hosted in Thailand, Bali and Morocco. I will be headed to Greece in September for my next rertreat. I will be offering retreats in Portugal, Italy and Senegal 2023.
In 2021 I decided to pivot and offer life coaching specifically to women in their 50s and over. Up until then I had done weight loss coaching and decided there was a need for coaches for women in their 50s. One of the reasons for creating this was because I noticed that a few years ago after interviewing a number of women about their experiences turning 50 most of them had responded by saying they felt invisible. It was heartbreaking to hear that. I decided I would make a difference and share with women the tools to help them feel empowered. I’m 54 and I’m an example of what’s possible, I’m passionate about changing the negative narrative around aging. I have a Youtube channel called 50 Shades of over50 where I interview women in their 50s and over doing amazing work in the world from all walks of life.
Then in 2021 I decided to write a book. I’m the author of a book called: 50 Questions to Answer When You Reach 50 – A guide to help women thrive and shine in their 50s and beyond. I created this book so that women would fall in love with themselves one question at a time.
I currently offer one-on-programs and and I have an online community for women in their 50s and over called Flourish. I created Flourish because I know how challenging it is to go after your goals alone with no support or accountability. I want women in their 50s and over to know that they are not too old and it’s not too late for them to go after their dreams. Let’s go!
We live in a youth-obsessed world and I’m here to disrupt the norm by encouraging and supporting women to create their best life on their own terms

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
8 years ago I read a book by Jack Canfield an as soon as I finished the book I created my vision board. I then put in big bold letters Destination Retreats by Kwavi. I had never done a retreat before but I knew deep in my heart I needed to do it.
The following year I did my research and decided to offer a retreat in Thailand. I created a sales page put it out there and no one signed up. I was disappointed but I didn’t let it deter me.
The following year I offered the same retreat and people signed up. I was so excited and the ladies had a great time. I then offered it again the next year and it sold out really quickly. The following year I offered a retreat in Marrakech and it sold out. The next year was Bali and it sold out and in September I will be taking my largest group to date of 12 women to Greece.
I’m so glad I didn’t give up. Next year I have 3 trips already scheduled – Portugal in May, Italy in September and Senegal in November.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started my business I did weight loss coaching. When I turned 47 I decided to interview women already in their 50s to get advice from them. Unfortunately while interiewing them I was heartbroken as 70% of the women I interviewed described themselves as invisible. I decided to do some research and found out that it’s not uncommon for women in their 50s and beyond to describe themselves in this way.
I decided to do something about it. I decided to change my niche from weight loss coaching to life coaching for women in their 50s and beyond and help them create a future more exciting than their past.
I offer one-on-one programs and an online membership called Flourish to help women create a future more exciting than their past.
