Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erika Perez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Erika, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in my professional career came when I decided to leave my 8-year career in marketing to pursue massage therapy and yoga full-time. For years, I excelled in marketing, leading teams and creating strategies, but deep down, I felt unfulfilled. There was a quiet yet persistent voice urging me to align my work with something more meaningful—something that connected to my passion for wellness and my desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
With my husband’s unconditional support, I submitted my resignation letter and began my transition into a full-time career as a massage therapist and yoga teacher. My first job as an LMT was at a pregnancy clinic in Denver where I provided prenatal and postpartum massage. From the very beginning, I fell in love with supporting women during such transformative periods of their lives. However, I couldn’t overlook the lack of representation—very few of my clients were women of color. This realization struck a deeply personal chord and became the driving force behind the creation of Sacred Womb Therapeutics: a space dedicated to empowering women, especially women of color, to connect with their bodies, prioritize womb wellness, and thrive in every aspect of their lives.
Leaving the security of an established career for an entirely new path wasn’t easy, but it taught me the importance of trusting the voice of my womb—my intuition. It also deepened my understanding of resilience and purpose, two lessons that continue to shape my work today. Through Sacred Womb Therapeutics, I’ve been able to merge my skills in communication and relationship-building from marketing with my passion for women’s health & wellness, creating a business that’s deeply rooted in both connection and healing.
The wisdom I’ve gained from this journey is that true fulfillment comes when you align your career with your “why.” By stepping out of my comfort zone, I not only found my purpose but also built a platform that fosters healing, self-discovery, and empowerment for the women I serve. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the scariest leaps lead to the most beautiful outcomes.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a multi-talented individual to say the least haha. Currently, I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher based in Denver. I specialize in natural womb care practices including Sobada de Matriz (womb massage), fertility massage, prenatal massage, postpartum massage, bajos (AKA yoni steaming), and womb yoga. Through education and nurturing practices, I address common womb-related issues such as irregular menstrual cycles, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility challenges, gut issues, energetic/emotional blockages and more. I also host workshops and community events that create safe spaces for women to connect, heal, and learn about their bodies.
My journey into this work was deeply inspired by my own incredibly magical experience of connecting with my womb space for the first time in my life. This profound awakening ignited a passion to help women reconnect with their womb, tap into their innate wisdom, and reclaim power over their lives.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing my clients’ connect with their womb for the very first time. That moment when they feel the pulse of their uterus or ovaries is always so beautiful—their eyes widen with surprise, and they usually gasp or exclaim, “Oh WOW!” It’s such a powerful and magical experience to witness.
At the heart of Sacred Womb Therapeutics is the belief that womb care is life care. To nurture your womb is to empower your life. My mission is to help women feel seen, heard, and supported as they reclaim their power and break generational cycles of trauma and disconnection. I want potential clients and followers to know that my work is about more than just womb wellness—it’s about healing, empowerment, and creating a ripple effect of self-love and awareness for generations to come.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that a 9-5 corporate career was the only path to a successful and fulfilling life. For eight years, I worked in marketing, diligently checking off all the boxes society promised would lead to stability and happiness. Although I had stability, deep down, I felt unfulfilled and completely disconnected—from myself, my purpose, and my body. I had spent so much time chasing external measures of success that I eventually hit a breaking point. It became clear that I needed to make a change as soon as possible.
After leaving my full-time job in marketing and exploring what a career in massage therapy could offer (while starting my own fertility journey), I discovered sobada de matriz (womb massage). Initially, I sought out this practice as a way to prepare my body for conception, but what I received was so much more. For the first time in my life, I truly connected with my womb and felt I was finally “home” after receiving my first adjustment with my teacher. From that moment on, I began to listen to the voice of my womb—learning to trust her, honor my intuition, and give myself permission to create a life and career that aligned with my deepest values. This journey has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life, and it’s a gift I feel deeply called to share with other women.
Today, I have the privilege of guiding other women on their journey to reconnect with their wombs, just as I have. Unlearning that a 9-5 is the only option allowed me to create a life of freedom, alignment, and purpose—one that nourishes not just my career but my whole being. The true beauty lies in knowing that we have the power to choose a path that honors who we are in each moment, allowing us to evolve and align with our deepest truth.
P.S. I want to take a moment to acknowledge that not everyone has the option to leave their 9-to-5, and I have immense respect for those who work hard within that structure. My decision to leave my career in marketing would not have been possible without the unwavering love and full financial support of my husband, my best friend, and my soulmate, Alfonso Perez. Thank you, my love. I adore you beyond measure.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve faced my fair share of life experiences that have shaped me into the resilient person I am today. From witnessing domestic violence between my parents as a child, to losing my first love—the person I thought I’d spend my life with—in a tragic car accident during my final year of college, which caused me to fail all my finals and return the next semester to tackle 19 credit hours just to graduate on time, to making the heart-wrenching decision to terminate an unexpected pregnancy, and now facing fertility challenges with the love of my life while building my own business as a first-generation Latina—each chapter of my journey has tested and shaped me in profound ways.
These challenges were (and still are) some of the hardest moments of my life, but each one has contributed to my growth. Instead of dwelling on the heartbreak and the weight of loss, I choose to take these experiences, learn from them, and share my story with others, in the hopes that it might offer support or guidance to someone going through something similar. Resilience, to me, is not just about surviving adversity—it’s about using those experiences to rise stronger, helping others along the way, and embracing the beauty that can emerge from our darkest moments.
