We recently connected with Noelle & Rian Goins and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Noelle & Rian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
We are a husband and wife team of pest control owners as well as our nonprofit foundation that provides impoverished communities and underserved communities with free pest control services if they are severely infested.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Rian comes from a pest control owning family so he was born into it. Noelle married into it. After an aunt of Rian’s became suddenly ill, her daughter gave her small list of clients to Rian and Noelle to takeover and thus Get Goins Pest Control was born. They are both licensed and work in the field together. We handle all general pests, rodents, and specialty pests like bed bugs, mosquito, and termites to name a few. We love working together as husband and wife and we make a lot of content for social media, something the industry has shied away from. Our nonprofit foundation has been successful because the families we have ben able to help are willing to come forth and share their stories so that others know there is help out there. The Keep It Goins Foundation is what we are most proud of.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Rian and Noelle met on a dating app owned by Match.com called BLK. they met in January 2021, got engaged in June 2021, got married in November 2021, started their business in April 2022, and started their nonprofit in July 2023.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
We had to unlearn everything we thought about pest control from what Rian learned to what Noelle assumed it was. It is not just spraying someone’s house or assuming because someone has a certain infestation that it’s all their fault. You have to study and obtain licensing to do pest control and it’s not an easy license to obtain. You have to know the science of animals and insects called entomology. You have to be able to identify not just an ant or a roach but all species of roaches. The chemicals we use are not DANGEROUS rather they have levels of toxicity. Many cleaning products we use everyday have DANGER on the label and are more toxic than what we use in pest control.
