We were lucky to catch up with Lynette Kaiser recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lynette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I were starting from scratch in both careers, I would adopt a mindset focused on action rather than perfection. Early on, I found myself preoccupied with the minutiae–obsessing over every small detail. While attention to detail is important, I realize now that it can be a double-edged sword. By concentrating too much on these tiny aspects, I delayed taking significant actions that could have propelled me forward more quickly.
In summary, if I were starting over, I would prioritize action over perfection, leverage technology for growth, and actively seek mentorship. These strategies would not only help me reach my goals faster but also enable me to do so with less capital and more confidence.
Lynette, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! I’m Lynette Kaiser a Professional Figure Skating Coach at Daytona Ice arena and a REALTOR® with DJ and Lindsey Real Estate. I have spent the last 15 years as a figure skating coach, and the journey has been nothing short of transformative. My experience as a competitor for over a decade, representing Team USA, has enriched my understanding of the sport, allowing me to coach athletes at every level, from beginners to international/world competitions. There’s an unparalleled joy that comes from watching my skaters achieve new skills and light up with excitement. Coaching has become my true calling, and I cannot imagine my life without it. The fulfillment I derive from helping others succeed has far surpassed any personal accolades I received during my own competitive years.
Recently, I took a significant leap of faith and pursued my passion for real estate, obtaining my license in the summer of 2024. While I’ve always had an interest in this business, I never thought anyone would refer to me other than by “Lynette the Figure Skating Coach.” However, I felt a compelling urge to help people navigate one of the most significant decisions of their lives—buying or selling a home. I leverage my coaching expertise to provide a supportive and organized approach to real estate, ensuring that my clients feel confident throughout the entire process. Although I am just beginning this new chapter , I am thoroughly enjoying the journey and embracing the challenge of balancing both careers.
What truly sets me apart is my commitment to seamlessly integrate my dedication to both careers and constantly be keeping up to date with new material and listening to my clients needs . Many professionals get comfortable and do not adapt well to change. I on the other hand thrive off of it. Finding a coach/agent who is willing to learn is key especially when handling/directing two very important roles in one’s life.
My goal for future clients is to know that my relationship exceeds beyond a transaction.I take immense pride in the positive impact I’ve made on countless individuals whether that be guiding a student through mastering an axel (a difficult element in skating) or assisting a family in finding their dream home. You can always count that on me to be listening and executing you wants and needs.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe the genuine passion I have for my work has been key in building my reputation. When you truly love what you do and give 110% effort, the rewards naturally follow. I aim to create meaningful connections with clients and colleagues, ensuring they feel valued. My goal is for people to look back in 10-20 years and recognize the positive impact I had on their lives, rather than just a business exchange.
I believe our primary purpose is to create positive change in others lives. By fostering collaboration and support, we not only benefit individuals but also strengthen our community. Staying true to my values and consistently delivering exceptional service inspires others to pursue their passions. Ultimately , I want to remind people that the most rewarding experiences come from making a difference. After all, if not for that purpose, what are we truly working towards?
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategies I’ve employed for growing my clientele are around two key factors: Consistent follow-up and accessibility. Building strong relationships with clients doesn’t end once a transaction is completed; in fact, thats just the beginning. I make it a priority to follow up with clients regularly, not only to check in on their satisfaction but also offer ongoing support and resources.
Additionally, being readily accessible has proven to be valuable in both career fields. In today’s fast-paced world, clients appreciate prompt responses and open lines of communication. I ensure that I am available through various channels-whether it’s phone, email, or social media–making it easy for clients to reach out with questions or concerns. This accessibility not only enhances the client experience, but also encourages referrals and repeat business. Clients are more likely to recommend someone they feel they can rely on.
