We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ronald Giraldo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ronald below.
Ronald, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
When I first discovered the transformative power of wallpaper, I was captivated by how it could turn an ordinary wall into a stunning centerpiece. Early in my career, I realized that intricate designs and rich textures weren’t created with paint but with wallpaper crafted by talented artists and designers. This sparked a passion in me—not just for wallpaper itself but for the process of installation, where precision and artistry meet to create flawless results.
As I worked on more projects, I began noticing recurring issues—wrinkles, misaligned seams, and bubbles in the wallpaper. These weren’t flaws in the designs but in how they were applied. That’s when I knew I wanted to create a company that prioritized quality above all else. At RG Wallcovering, our mission has always been to deliver perfection with every installation, ensuring every detail is executed with care and expertise.
To maintain these high standards as we grow, we make ongoing education a priority. My team and I attend industry trainings and conventions, stay involved with the Boston Chapter of Professional Wallpaper Hangers, and even travel internationally to places like Italy for advanced training. Over the years, we’ve also expanded our skill set to include specialized finishes and have become a 3M-certified company, offering architectural films and other wall solutions.
This dedication to craftsmanship is what sets us apart. By focusing on continual learning and collaboration, we ensure that every project reflects our passion for transforming walls into works of art. Quality is not just our foundation—it’s our promise.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I moved to the United States at 17, full of dreams and ambition, not knowing how much this journey would shape my life. By the time I was 18, I found myself working as an assistant in the wallpaper installation industry, and that’s where everything clicked. I quickly realized that wallpaper wasn’t just a job—it was an art, and I had a natural talent for it.
As I worked and refined my skills, I started to notice two things: the industry was filled with incredibly talented people, but also many who didn’t bring the passion or care this work truly deserves. That’s when I saw my chance. I committed to building my reputation with discipline, honesty, and a drive for perfection. Focusing on the details and always striving for excellence helped me earn the trust of my clients.
Now, with 20 years in the wallpaper industry, I’m still growing. I’ve invested in advanced training, worked alongside amazing professionals, and made sure I surround myself with a team that shares my dedication to quality. What sets me apart is my persistence, my resilience, and my focus on even the smallest details. Every project is an opportunity to create something exceptional, something that exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting impact. This commitment to quality is what’s earned me the trust and loyalty of my clients.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
The key point where we connect with our clients and gain their trust is during the process itself. At RG Wallcovering, we understand how important it is to be respectful of our clients’ homes, so we prioritize keeping everything very clean and organized throughout the installation. To enhance transparency and ensure clients feel involved, depending on the situation, we sometimes share a Drive folder where they can access daily updates of the work in progress—this creates a sense of comfort and excitement.
Post-installation, we provide clients with detailed aftercare information, either printed or via email, to ensure their wallcoverings remain in pristine condition. Additionally, we share the process of installations on our social media platforms, which not only allows our clients to see their projects come to life but also engages a broader audience. We try to be very present on social media and complement that with newsletters, blog posts, and even our YouTube channel, giving clients and followers a behind-the-scenes look into our work and expertise.
This level of attention and care is why our clients and designers keep coming back to us and consistently recommend us to their peers. Building trust through an organized, respectful, and transparent process, while maintaining a strong presence online, has been key to fostering brand loyalty and growing our reputation.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My initial capital for starting the business came from my work. I would work long hours, get paid, and save a portion of that money. My savings amounted to around $4,800, and I used that to support both my personal expenses and the needs of the business. This $4,800 was intended as an emergency fund, but it ended up becoming the capital for RG Wallcovering. Some jobs in this industry take up to a month to get paid, so I used that savings to support myself until I received payment for the work I did under RG Wallcovering. I always kept that minimum amount saved just in case something unexpected happened.
My personal car became my business vehicle, and I set a goal to buy a proper business vehicle within a certain period. I kept that car for about 9 years while building relationships with clients. Of course, by then, my capital had grown, and around 2015, I upgraded to more modern equipment, including a new truck, machines for the business, and a team of workers not only on-site but also handling my website and social media. Throughout this journey, I was also learning English to better communicate with my clients, which of course, became a crucial part of my success. Now, we’re expanding into interior design with our designer, Paula Perez, and actively seeking opportunities to enter this industry.
