We recently connected with Jasmine Garner and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Entrepreneurs tend to be natural risk-takers, and I’ve never been afraid to take a risk when I believe I can achieve something. Those who play it safe don’t believe miracles or impossible situations can happen to them. I recall the time I took a risk to jump out into the modeling and acting world. Previously I had given up on the dream because I thought I couldn’t be in this industry as a Christian. Believe it or not, God proved me wrong about that.
He is God, and He’s omnipresent. Who was I to limit the gift and talent He’s given me? Back in 2015, I did some research and found a community of people like me who love Jesus and enjoy the world of entertainment and creative arts. My confidence was ignited and I set out to look for the nearest audition with an agency.
At the time, I worked at a bank in downtown Nashville, but I was determined to pursue this teenage dream. I went to my first audition in Franklin, TN, and bummed it. My confidence didn’t show, they said. I was playing small and not wowing them with my talent. I held some of it back out of fear and they could smell it on me.
I was encouraged to reapply at a later date when I felt ready. I thought maybe I should stop at one closed door. Then I got this overwhelming urge to just try again and this time give it all I’ve got. So I tried again at an agency in my hometown of Memphis, TN and I was accepted!
I finished the entire program, and graduated with scholarships to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, and 8 regional agencies wanted to sign me to their roster.
Now I actually have a full resume of modeling and acting work and I’m super excited to sign with my next agent to scale to national campaigns.

Jasmine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve shared the biggest risk that got me started as a model and actor, now I will share about the other things God told me to do. I am a Dual-Certified Body Image and Self-Esteem Coach helping young women boost their confidence and learn about their beauty in Christ. I also teach women about the importance of modesty and self-image.
I started with the modesty ministry first and then the Lord wanted me to get in the trenches and help women with their body image and identity issues. These could be reasons why women don’t value modesty, there is hurt and trauma with how they perceive themselves.
I work with women 1-on-1 and I offer courses to help them overcome their insecurities and break up with the comparison trap.
What sets us apart is that we share body image content from the biblical perspective. Rather than teaching self-reliance and looking within, we look up to our Creator who deeply knows us and loves us with all of our flaws.
I want women to know that they were created in the image of God and no one can tell them who they are except for Him.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
As a risk-taking entrepreneur or creative, I highly recommend the book, Three Feet From Gold, by Greg S. Reid. I had the privilege of meeting him in person and getting an autographed copy of the book. It talks about how when you’re taking risks and stepping out on faith, the temptation of discouragement and inconsistency can stop you right before that door opens or right before you strike gold.
Consistency and persistence are how miracles and impossible things happen. Not just out of thin air, although God has done those too, but out of your daily actions meeting His supernatural support and plans for your life.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to make Christ known and to tell others about the saving grace of God. He meets people where they are, and we just have to go and connect with them wherever He sends us.
