We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paula Sofia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paula below.
Hi Paula, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
This year, I had the honor of partnering with Attorney Danielle Hernandez, President of the Tampa Bay Latin Chamber and Founder of Agatha’s Recovery Fund, to launch my single *Esta Noche* on November 16, 2024. It was more than a music release—it was a collaboration with purpose. We raised $2,500 in ticket sales, all donated to Agatha’s Recovery Fund, which helps victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and immigration issues access legal representation and find safety. Knowing our efforts could directly impact lives made this project deeply meaningful.
For me, this experience highlighted the power of women coming together to create change. Danielle and I combined our passions to make a real impact, proving that when two women unite for a shared dream, it’s truly powerful. *Esta Noche* reflects that spirit—it’s a metaphor for pursuing goals with determination, discipline, and hard work. When you fully commit to your dreams, the universe aligns to help you achieve them.
Agatha’s Recovery Fund, named after St. Agatha, the protector of mistreated women, provides critical legal assistance to victims, including survivors of domestic violence and DACA recipients. This mission of justice and empowerment inspired me deeply.
This project wasn’t just about music or fundraising—it was about hope, strength, and creating a brighter future for those in need. You can listen to *Esta Noche* on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. It’s a piece of my heart, reminding us all of what’s possible when we dream big and work together.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Paula Sofia, an artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur passionate about creating music that celebrates my roots and uplifts my community. With over 25 years of experience performing genres like Latin, rock, and disco, I’ve blended my artistic journey with a mission to inspire joy, connection, and cultural pride. Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, my music reflects the vibrant rhythms and traditions of my hometown, fused with contemporary sounds that resonate globally.
Through my company, Paula Sofia Singer LLC, I write, produce, and perform original music while organizing events that bring people together. I also collaborate with causes I care deeply about, such as Agatha’s Recovery Fund and the Believe Cancer Foundation, using music as a bridge to raise awareness and drive positive change.
What sets me apart is my dedication to storytelling through music that inspires both celebration and reflection. My recent single, El Carnaval Llegó, is a tribute to Barranquilla’s culture and the joy of its iconic carnival. Another release, Esta Noche, is a metaphorical anthem about turning dreams into reality through discipline and determination.
I’m most proud of creating art that connects people to my culture while addressing important societal issues. Whether performing live, producing music, or partnering with local leaders, my work is rooted in the belief that art and purpose go hand in hand. To my fans and clients, I promise authenticity, passion, and a commitment to making an impact through my craft.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
1. Invest in Creativity: Let’s champion grants, scholarships, and public art projects! Governments, businesses, and communities can fund the arts and even offer tax breaks for donations or creative initiatives. Every dollar invested in art fuels innovation and culture.
2. Create More Spaces to Shine: Artists need stages to share their work—whether that’s local galleries, festivals, or digital platforms. We need more community spaces where art can thrive and more opportunities to connect creators with audiences.
3. Teach the Power of Art: Art education is a game-changer! Let’s make it a core part of schools so kids grow up knowing how vital creativity is for expression, problem-solving, and innovation. And we can’t forget public advocacy—art isn’t just entertainment; it’s the soul of a society!
4. Support Artists’ Livelihoods: Let’s ensure artists are paid fairly for their time and talent. Programs like artist residencies, affordable housing, and co-working spaces can help them focus on creating without constant financial stress.
5. Encourage Collaboration: Amazing things happen when artists team up with local businesses and organizations. Partnerships amplify voices, resources, and impact—art becomes a bridge for meaningful change.
6. Celebrate Diversity: The arts should reflect the beautiful diversity of our world. Supporting underrepresented voices enriches culture and makes the creative ecosystem stronger and more inclusive.
Art is life, connection, and inspiration. When we support artists, we create a vibrant, innovative, and soulful society where everyone can thrive!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is the ability to connect with people on a deep, emotional level through my music. There’s nothing quite like seeing someone’s face light up, watching them dance, or hearing them say, *“That song spoke to me”*—it’s pure magic. Music has this incredible power to transcend language, culture, and barriers, creating moments of joy, healing, and unity.
It’s also deeply fulfilling to share my roots and culture with the world. As someone inspired by the vibrant traditions of Barranquilla, Colombia, weaving those rhythms and stories into my songs feels like I’m sharing a piece of home. Seeing others celebrate and embrace that energy is a reminder of how music can build bridges between people and cultures.
Another rewarding aspect is the sense of purpose. Whether it’s writing a song to inspire someone chasing their dreams, or using my platform to support causes like Agatha’s Recovery Fund, art allows me to make an impact far beyond the stage. It’s a way to give back, raise awareness, and spark change.
Finally, the creative journey itself is a gift. From the first note to the final performance, every step is an opportunity to express my emotions, challenge myself, and grow as an artist and individual. Knowing that my work leaves a lasting imprint, whether in someone’s playlist or their heart, is the ultimate reward.
