We recently connected with Tannya Iza and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tannya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Being in the pharmacy industry 10+ years, suffering from chronic pain as well as watching family members go through a decline in health and seeing it progressively get worse instead of better being on medication really opened my eyes to holistic and alternative form of healing, not only from pain for overall physical and mental health. My mission is to expand the knowledge and actual feeling better without resorting to be active on a whole bunch of different prescriptions. The power of the human touch can do amazing things, and I am here to spread awareness that there are other ways.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
During my last pregnancy (3rd one) I suffered a lot from sciatica pain. It would literally debilitate me, I couldn’t walk, sit or stand properly before losing strength and falling at times. Working 12-14 hours at a desk job was not helping and even adding on to my pains. A family member who is a massage therapist as well recommended me to the woman who would change my whole life. I would receive prenatal massages every 4 weeks until I gave birth. The whole experience changed my thought process, and I finally knew I wanted to deliver the same feeling she gave to me to others. I gave birth right at the beginning of COVID, the whole world was a standstill and for many (like me) it was an opportunity to really tap into my true person and figure out what it is I wanted to do especially since working for someone at this moment was not in the best interest of my family and me. In September of 2020 I was part of the new 2021 graduating class of American Institute of Alternative Medicine. Since then, I have delivered countless amounts of prenatal massages to other women who have suffered like I have. It brings me great joy to take some of that pain and discomfort away. Not only am I well known for my prenatal massages, but I also am known for facials and sports therapy recovery massages. I tackle very in depth with pain associated from work, injuries or just overuse of muscles from gym-goers.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was to stick to the plan. Circumstances always change, people always change and when you have kids nothing is ever certain. I had to be ok with the plan changing… constantly changing. At first it was very tough I expected myself to be in specific place in a specific time frame and nothing came out that way. It put me in a spiral of self-doubt and even depression that I would not make it, and the fear of failure took over me that put me in a freeze. I started to accept that maybe I was destined to be stuck in a 9-5 and not see myself as a homeowner or even being able to afford the dreams I had for my children. I got back into the regular work system and then it happened again. I was miserable, often had to choose between work and my kids. My kids always came first, sadly when you work for someone that is not good for business. Tax season 2024 I made a choice, and I invested over 15K in starting my business with its own location. My partner saw the dream and decided to help me achieve it as well by also investing whatever was left and needed to make this happen. Now 6 months into the business I am able to pay my bills beforehand. I am not at the end where all the dreams true, but I am definitely on that path.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would say is being authentic to who I am. With social media being as big as it is, a lot of comparison does tend to happen. I see other people in the same industry with more followers than me, being booked continuously meanwhile I am still with gaps in my schedule. One of those tough conversations I had with myself is admitting that social media is not one of my strengths and that’s ok. I realized most of my clients come from reviews and word of mouth and I feel that’s what works for me. People bragging to their family and friends is the best form of advertisement. I have one client who has their wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and nephew all come to me, it’s just so special I know feel as part of their family as well. After all my sessions I send out thank you messages along with my link to get a review although some don’t because they prefer privacy (which I respect) most of them love to say how much better they feel after a session with me.
