We were lucky to catch up with Constance Marie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Constance, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Issasistahood was born from a transformative group trip to Curaçao, where six women came together as friends and left as sisters. What began as a getaway evolved into a deep and enduring bond that shaped not only our lives but our mission.
We know firsthand how challenging it can be to cultivate meaningful friendships after college, amidst the busyness of life. That’s why our mission is to build and nurture positive relationships among women. We believe that strong friendships are essential, not just for navigating life’s ups and downs but for thriving.
Friendship is more than companionship; it’s a lifeline that fosters joy, resilience, and growth. At Issasistahood, we’re committed to creating spaces and opportunities for women to connect, uplift one another, and form bonds that stand the test of time.
This mission is deeply personal to us because we’ve seen the power of friendship in our own lives. We’ve celebrated milestones, supported each other through challenges, and shown up for every moment that matters. Now, we’re dedicated to sharing that experience with women everywhere, ensuring no one has to navigate life alone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Issasistahood is more than a brand, it’s a movement inspired by the beauty and power of authentic women’s friendships. Our journey began with a life-changing trip to Curaçao, where a group of women formed a sisterhood that has flourished into a mission to inspire others. At Issasistahood, we provide products and resources that celebrate and nurture meaningful connections among women, helping them thrive in life and relationships.
Our founder, Constance Marie, is the creative force behind Issasistahood. She is the author of two impactful books: Empowered Women: A Motivational Journey, a coloring book created to help women relax and reflect, and Dazzling Dreams: ABC Affirmations for Black Princesses, a book designed to empower young Black girls by fostering self-love, confidence, and resilience in a world where they are often underrepresented or misrepresented.
In addition, Constance handcrafts our signature friendship candles, which hold a special meaning, they represent our group’s love for candles and serve as a symbol of the warmth and light that genuine friendships bring.
We’re thrilled to announce that 2025 will bring even more products that reflect and celebrate the beauty of women’s friendships. Each item we create is thoughtfully designed to support women in building stronger connections and navigating life together.
What sets us apart? Authenticity. What you see on our social media is real…our lives, our struggles, our celebrations. We don’t just talk about thriving friendships; we live them. Our group has supported each other through every major life event, proving that while real friendships take work, they’re worth every moment.
At Issasistahood, we believe that no woman should feel alone in her journey. We want our customers and followers to know that friendship isn’t just a luxury, it’s a lifeline. Through our products and content, we’re dedicated to fostering positivity, resilience, and genuine connections.
We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, from our first coloring book to our growing product line. But most of all, we’re proud of the impact we’ve made in inspiring women to prioritize and cherish their friendships.
Issasistahood isn’t just a business; it’s a sisterhood that welcomes everyone ready to build, nurture, and celebrate the bonds that make life extraordinary.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn is the belief that friendships should happen effortlessly or they aren’t genuine. Growing up, I thought that if a friendship required too much work, it meant the connection wasn’t real. The backstory behind unlearning this lesson stems from my journey with Issasistahood.
When our group formed after a trip to Curaçao, we instantly clicked and created memories that would last a lifetime. But as life progressed, marriages, babies, careers, and personal challenges, it became clear that staying close wasn’t just going to “happen.” We had to put in the work. Scheduling regular check-ins, showing up for each other’s big moments, and even navigating misunderstandings required intentionality and effort.
There were times when I’d think, Shouldn’t this just flow naturally? But over time, I realized that real friendships, like any meaningful relationship, thrive on effort. That work doesn’t take away from the authenticity; it actually makes the bond deeper. We aren’t perfect, but our commitment to each other has taught me that effort doesn’t mean something is forced, it means it’s valued.
This lesson transformed how I approach not only friendships but also other areas of life. Anything worth having requires time, care, and intentionality, and that doesn’t diminish its value, it amplifies it. Now, I embrace the work it takes to maintain deep connections and encourage others to do the same.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped build our reputation within our market is our authenticity and the genuine nature of our mission. From the start, Issasistahood has been about sharing real, unfiltered stories of friendship. We’re not just a brand promoting a concept; we’re living examples of the beauty and complexity of women’s friendships.
Our transparency on social media plays a huge role. We show up as we are: women navigating life’s ups and downs, celebrating victories, and supporting each other through challenges. People connect with us because they see themselves in our stories. They can relate to the struggles of maintaining friendships in adulthood and the joy that comes from finding a true sisterhood.
Our products also reflect who we are and what we value. From our friendship candles that symbolize warmth and connection to our books that inspire confidence and relaxation, everything we create is deeply personal and intentional. Our customers and followers know they’re getting more than a product; they’re getting a piece of the heart and soul of Issasistahood.
Finally, consistency and community engagement have been key. We show up regularly, whether through content, events, or collaborations. We actively engage with our audience, respond to their messages, and celebrate their stories too. By building relationships with our community, we’ve fostered trust and loyalty.
Ultimately, what sets us apart and builds our reputation is this: we don’t just talk about friendship; we embody it in everything we do. That realness resonates with women who are looking for meaningful connections and products that align with their values.
