We recently connected with Sarah Silver and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. Would you say you are more focused on growing revenue or cutting costs? We’d love to hear how you think about these two critical drivers
Honestly, I can’t pick between the two, I feel strongly about both! Let’s start with growing revenue. It’s easy to fantasize about growth as the straightforward path to success, but in reality, it requires strategy and clarity. What’s the end goal? For me, it’s about creating a business that works for me, allowing me to work smarter, not harder. At the heart of this, is relationships.
In hospitality, relationships are everything. I learned this during my senior year at Arizona State University while interning at a corporate travel agency. My boss told me, “This industry is all about maintaining relationships with the client,” that stuck with me. Whether it’s my guests or clients whose properties I manage, I prioritize making people feel valued and cared for. That personal touch brings repeat business and referrals, it’s a growth strategy rooted in connection.
Now, about cutting costs, that’s a tricky balance when building a business. Some expenses are the price of doing business, but the key is identifying which ones truly contribute to the bottom line. If a cost creates more financial stress than value, it’s okay to let it go. It’s all about evaluating what stays and what can go, ensuring everything aligns with the bigger picture.
Growing revenue and cutting costs are deeply interconnected. It’s not about choosing one over the other but finding the balance that supports sustainable success.

Sarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Sarah, founder of Seamless Destinations, a property management company specializing in short-term rentals. I started my journey nearly 10 years ago with a small bungalow in Minneapolis, then carried into investing in Los Angeles. This was all driven by the need to create a flexible career so I could be present for my daughter.
Seamless Destinations helps property owners simplify the rental process by handling everything—guest communication, property upkeep, and revenue optimization—so they can enjoy their investment stress-free. For guests, we focus on creating stays that feel personal, memorable, and effortless.
What sets us apart is our focus on relationships. I’ve learned that success in this industry isn’t just about great properties—it’s about how you make people feel. Whether it’s an owner trusting us with their property or a guest leaving a glowing review, those connections are what drives us and what breeds referrals and repeat customers.
If you’re looking for a trusted partner to manage your property or a stay that feels like home, Seamless Destinations is here to make it happen.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn not to take everything personally, a hard lesson, but one that changed everything for me. In the beginning, every critique or complaint felt like a personal attack, especially since I put so much of myself into my work. But over time, I realized most feedback isn’t about me; it’s about the guest’s experience or the client’s goals. This doesn’t mean that I don’t still feel the effects of a guest or client, but its lessoned significantly.
Now, I focus on seeing feedback as a way to grow instead of letting it shake my confidence. It’s not always easy, but learning to let go of that weight has made me a better professional and a happier person overall.

Any advice for managing a team?
My team doesn’t just work for me, they are the backbone of my business, and have become friends. Showing them appreciation on a regular basis is important. The more they feel like they are a part of a team, the more committed they are to building this business with me!
