We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jen Mendizabal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
From a young age I discovered art as a way of self-expression, self-regulation, connection and income.
I have explored many art disciplines since then till I became a mom. Since being a single mom, I had no time, energy to keep creating. And this, surprisingly, made many health issues come to the surface. For a few years I could not find answers till I started to understand how energy works. There is when I realized that energy was being suppressed at my lower energetic centers due to lack of use. I was not using my artistic skills, I wasn’t expressing myself, I was repressing sexual energy inside my body– the energy we use for creating. This is the energy of creativity, and when we don’t use it can cause tons of health issues. It became my mission to let other creative and artistic women know about the importance of self-expression during all stages of our lives and inspire them to learn about how energy works. Be the designers of their own vibe during all life cycles.

Jen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I strongly believe that many women are disconnected from their intuition, their inner wisdom, and their feminine pleasure. Using my creative skills I have designed different kinds of services to inspire women to own their voice, cultivate their creativity, and connect with the joy of life. I always provide a deep vision of life combined with joyful embodiment exercises in a very productive way.
Women feel more empowered to express themselves and open to embrace their own intuitive gifts after they tapped into my energy.
The most rewarding part of this mission is witnessing women falling in love with themselves!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I walked away from a non-respectful relationship with a 6 month old baby. I had no job, no place, no savings, and no family members. However, I was determined to find a way back to myself, to my health, to my joyful personality. The path was very challenging but I have to say that in the process of going back to myself I also received the most valuable gift I have ever received: I learned how to love myself! And that’s the motor of my passion now!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearned how to live in survival mode and learn how to live in the moment and trust in the unknown.
I spent most of my life overprotecting myself from dangerous possible outcomes. This is exhausting for our nervous system. It leaves us running out of energy, so when the problem actually comes, we are too tired to face it and to be strategic about it. I have learned that if my vibration is high I can face whatever and also with a higher perspective.
