We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nico “nnil” Pires a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nico “NNIL”, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
It might sound silly, but the biggest risk I’ve taken and been rewarded for was making a TikTok video. I’ll explain:
I had operated on Instagram for years as a multi-disciplinary artist. I’ve taught danced, performed and street busked, I’ve produced and distributed music, I’ve modeled and done photography, among other things…but I couldn’t wrap my head around doing them as a business. I had been doing Tarot a couple of years for fun, and a friend of mine told me I should do it on TikTok, (which I devalued and despised at the time).
Over 1 million views later, I’m the official Tarot Reader for a hospitality company that’s never had one, a teacher of tarot to many and an alignment coach to a number of clients. I never saw this coming, and had to learn to go with the flow.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was introduced to tarot by a friend who told me they thought I would be good at it. I’ve always been known for having an intuitive sense of knowing amongst my friends, and frequently would give advice or channel insight on problems.
I also did a lot of work to develop other peoples’ artistry. Music production, choreography and dance, modeling and design; all of it is designed to solve problems, and I loved it. Finding my own way to interconnecting the two was a huge part of my own artistic development. It gave me passion to share that bridge of art and spirituality with others.
What makes me a different type of reader is my ability to assist others with their stories. Many readers can give you the elements of your circumstance, but I specialize is drawing a full picture for informed decision-making. This is not fortune telling, this is insight to achieve alignment with your personal values and goals.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have worked in almost every industry from entry level to management. I repeatedly would gain and lose everything in layoffs, department closures and general bad luck. The year I started my business, I didn’t receive a single call back from a resume or application I put out.
My resilience was grown from having a single choice: navigate this economy on the values of my greatest skills and unapologetic self.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I always say, “you don’t know your customer until you meet them.”
You have to be outside, integrating and of service in real life. People associate brand with experience, not value. If you’re not “there”, you’re not part of the experience.
